I believe they've wanted a first for him in the past, but they may lessen that as he's a free agent after the season and they have a surplus of guards.

If true, I wonder if we are effectively done. I think that is about the number that 42 mentioned was as much of our MLE that we could offer and not risk being hard capped.

They were about $6.2 million away from the tax, so there's not even enough after that, $1.8, to resign Cunningham with his Bird Rights. If a trade doesn't happen I'd say they are done other than signing the 2 GLeague spots and shuffling around minimums, like Toupane for Miller. But would they really choose Rondo over Cunningham? I don't think so unless they had a trade lined up.

I'm confused. Why are people thinking no Rondo now?

Because the money Rondo is getting is unlikely from us as compared to teams like the Lakers who have cap space to piss away.

We have less than 4.4 available to sign any free agent, right?

Free agent Rajon Rondo has reached agreement on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources tell The Vertical.

The math is not adding up for the 65+ FA's on the board. Factor in a projected 45 spots to 1st/2nd rd. picks and roster spots are scarce.

There's also tax issues for a lot of teams. Even if the Pels freed up enough roster spots, I doubt they go into the tax to add a Gerald Green at the minimum. If the tax wasn't an issue he'd be a good option to add.

gonna be good players on the street
might see even more of the tjones/donatas type players taking 1 yr minimums just to stay on a roster

I think some salary dumps are going to happen in the next few days and then you'll see some more additions. No sources, just my thoughts.

McNamara pitched Asik, Moore, Pondexter, and 1st to DAL for Matthews. Then sign Alan Anderson and re-sign Cunningham.

Rondo / Cook / Jackson
Holiday / Matthews / Crawford
Hill / Anderson / Miller
Davis / Cunningham
Cousins / Diallo / Ajinça

I prefer Gerald Green over Anderson. Thoughts?

Not giving up Moore AND a first for Matthews. I love the dudes presence in locker rooms as well as his play but he's not somebody we need to give up a first for.

Demps has tried and was denied Anderson before IIRC, so he'll definitely try to sign him.

That seems like a terrible deal, a 1st and Moore to turn Asik's and Moore's salary into a very slight improvement over Moore? Many measures would actually say Moore is the better player. I think Asik and Moore for Matthews is fair enough value. Dallas gets a cheaper Matthews replacement and a cheaper stretch than if Matthews opts into his contract next season which seems likely.
