Off too but there is some new vids on AD working on his handle. Is that further prove he will not be playing the 5 as much? Alot of media outlets are saying he is the center now.
He has worked with @dribble2much for several years now. I follow him just to see AD training. He has made it a focus to get better with his handle 3 years back. Stephene trained Solo and some of the other guys out in LA last summer too.

Connaughton signed a two-year deal with Milwaukee...
Was really hoping for that guy

DeAndre Liggins of the New Orleans Pelicans had his contract become guaranteed for $75,000 yesterday. No further triggers in the contract until the league-wide fully guaranteed date of 1/10/19.

He can easily be cut if we need the spot, and he's simply on the team as a trade filler at some point.

Yeah trade filler must be his main use

He is guaranteed for 75k till January.
He will be moved or cut during the season.
Dont act like he is a cancer for this team. His roster spot will be taken somewhere between now and trade deadline...

Who would you guys rather have as our 5th big - Jahlil Okafor or Emeka Okafor?

In an ideal scenario, neither will need to get playing time, so I'd probably rather Mek for the locker room attitude.

If healthy, and on a min. contract. I would go with Jahlil Okafor every time.

Emeka, assuming he's not about to fall off a cliff. Something that's not a given with his age. But I think for the 4th/5th big you want a vet that will give you 100% effort and will focus on the details and dirty work every time he plays, even if he just sat for the last 10 games.
Even if Jahlil is a diamond in the rough that you polish up, he still won't be as good as Mirotic or Randle. You also won't have Bird Rights on him which makes him nothing more than minimum salary filler in a trade. I just don't see any upside and a lot of downside because you want what a vet like Emeka will give you, not a diamond in the rough not known for his defense or hustle.

I tend to agree, but we shall see..

Seems that Jah has been on Dell's radar for a while now. I don't see the fit, but whatever. A 5th big isn't going to make or break the team.

I guess I can see an argument where this breed of dinosaur center has such low value now that you could keep Jahlil long term on a contract with positive value. Emeka can't have too much more tread on the tire, so maybe the team sees Jahlil as a long term piece where Emeka will be lucky to make it to the All Star break before the team's injury curse kills him.
This seems a bit penny wise, pound foolish to me though. I'm not going to say Emeka would win any games for the Pels, but he turned at least a few last year. Even in some where his production didn't impact the outcome, he often held his own as well as could be expected in single coverage against some elite bigs. They still scored, but he made them work for it and make contested shots. You can't expect anymore out of a backup big.

I could see them giving Jahlil a test run this year to see if they can afford to lose Niko or Randle, and replace them with him. Just an insurance policy with basically no risk taking him over Emeka. I doubt Randle doesn't fit well, and we know Niko does, and both of those guys can play defense, something we know Jahlil sucks at and something the Pels have made a point to talk about this offseason.

Guess that would mean Diallo isn’t being discussed in current potential trades and Emeka is.

I'm sure the Pels feel they are saving Atlanta $10-$11 million and that's worth a 1st. That's a reasonable assumption except with where Atlanta's salary cap is this year and next I don't think they value those savings very much.

The NBA season is long and I could see the appeal of getting a guy who can score 20 points 3-4 times and swinging a game. I would never play him when it counts, but Emeka could never do that for you. Either could a Trevor Booker. But on a random night against the Kings, on a back to back, AD and Niko can get a little rest and Jahlil can go out there and help you win that game.
That would be the argument, I suppose. You can also get a rep as a team that revives a guys career, after doing it with him and Rondo. Maybe that gets guys to come cheaper.
But fit and culture wise, I'd rather have Emeka. Supposedly, though, Jahlil is in really good shape. Might be too hard to pass up the chance at a cheap lotto ticket that would have cost a lot more a few years ago.
