If he has the ability to just take those 3's immediately or pull up from 3 on the dribble and convert like Niko, defenders will have to guard him so much further out and focus on closing out on him so much more.

Once they start guarding him closer on the perimeter, he can get foul shots on those pump fakes or if he improves his handle, he can drive the lane for a dunk or an easy assist instead of taking a midrange pullup.

It probably lets AD start creating more for others too like how Boogie got Moore and Miller much better shots than they've seen without him.

Does anyone think with the emergence of Tatum and Brown that Celtics might consider a trade of Niko, Moore, Ajinca and a second for Gordon Hayward. That would give great depth and clears the books up for them a little bit.

You think Brad Stevens is going to trade his guy. Plus a healthy celtics team is more like a younger Warriors as far as versatility.

I get the Hawks with sweeping them in th ECF, but I am completely failing to see any reason why the Knicks are on there.

The.rumor mill is starting to pick up steam

quote:

Schroder said he plans on meeting with Hawks owner Tony Ressler and general manager Travis Schlenk along with his agent to get a better understanding on where the team is headed.

quote:

Per Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Raptors "quietly explored" trade options for DeRozan last offseason and could be open to it again this summer.

On Kawhi
quote:

And according to a Western Conference executive who spoke with Ken Berger of Bleacher Report, teams are "lining up to try to do something" on the chance the relationship deteriorates further.

As a counter, though, the source said, "The Spurs want to try to make things work right now and aren't interested."

quote:

Keith Pompey of Philly.com served this one up, writing, "Sources have said the Sixers have expressed interest in the two-time All-Star [Kawhi]."

But this is the 76ers we're talking about, so it hardly stops there. Pompey added the following: "The Sixers can't publicly say so until July 1, but it doesn't take an engineering degree to realize the team is prepared to do whatever it takes to sign James, a four-time league MVP. Oklahoma City small forward Paul George is another free agent the Sixers have interest in, according to folks around the league."

He’s a big contract and is coming off a down year but what about Nic Batum? We need a 3+D SF and he’s still a very good 3pt shooter. If he can be as good defensively as he was a couple years ago I think he’d be a good fit. Charlotte appears that they are near ready to blow it up.

Hill, Ajinca, 1st?

Batum sucks and makes too much money. He Is one of the worst contracts in the league.
Solo and Ajinca don't make enough for it to even work, and I sure as shite wouldn't give up a pick for him, he'll i wouldn't like it if they gave us a first.

I just don't think we have the assets to do much better than a Batum or Bazemore or Carroll type acquisition.

A bad solution isn’t better than no solution when a long term contract is attached to it. Batum should be a no go and someone like Carroll a last resort at the deadline. Bazemore is a 2/3 not a 3/4. He is bigger than Moore but he’s way too small of an upgrade for costing more than twice the money as Moore. The Pels just need to be patient. They may not become contenders next year but they’ll never contend if they keep wasting money on bad role players.

If anyone is watching the NBA Combine here are a few players I think the Pelicans will be interested in if they keep their pick at #51

1) Jacob Evans (age 20)
-Cinncinnati SF

-FG: 42.7%
-3P: 37.0%

-PTS: 13.0

2) Melvin Frazier (age 22)
-Tulane SG/SF
-6’6” 200lbs
-FG: 55.6%
-3P: 38.5%
-Reb: 5.6
-Ast: 2.9
-TO: 2.6
-PTS: 15.9

3) Caleb Martin (age 22)
-Nevada SG/SF
-6’7” 205lbs
-FG: 45.4%
-3P: 40.3%
-Reb: 5.4
-Ast: 2.6
-TO: 1.7
-PTS: 18.9

4) Justin Jackson (age 21)
-Maryland SF

-3P: 25% (43.8% as a freshman)

5) Kevin Hervey (age 21)

He also shot well from 3 at NC State (30.5%->36.1%) so shooting ability is continuing to improve which is a good sign.

I wonder if he can be a halfway good defender though or at least net neutral.

Melvin Frazier got some immediate love from Jay Bilas for his combine performance. He may be moving on up into the first round.

Yea that wouldn’t surprise me if Frazier. Same goes for Jacob Evans. Both are above average defenders with size, length, and a 3 point shot

I doubt we keep the pick, but if we do I would love to gamble on Brian Bowen. He got tied up in the Louisville FBI scandal and hasn’t not played college ball. So he is very raw, but was a highly touted HS recruit who received $100k to go to Louisville.

He’s 6’6” 205 lbs with a 6’10” wingspan. Fluid explosive athlete who could become a legit scorer. He should go back to college, but he’s ineligible and so may be around at 51. Worth the gamble, maybe stash him in Europe if we can arrange it.

Hervey is pure PF.
From those guys probably only Jackson from Maryland will be available at 51st.

I like Huerter and Okogie - both rather for SG. But only if Pels will trade up.
