Off-topic but...EZ money to be made on Cs in this series. Terrible matchup for Mavs.

Is there a bad matchup for a team that has Luka?

Maybe not for Luka individually but Boston is definitely a bad matchup for the Mavs as a team.

Yes

I don’t know Dink, maybe so, but Mavs got any shot they wanted, just didn’t make them. KP helped the Celtics to a great start on both ends. Kyrie took his lumps from the leprechauns but he can be a slow starter. Jaden Ivy is good, shout out to the G League.

IMO, Mavs have no shot in this series. If you don't have a shot in the series, it's a bad matchup.
I keep hearing the argument that Mavs will win because they have the best player/Luka. That was the argument Legler made, who I typically agree with. But The Celtics have 5 of the best 7 players. I like that advantage better.

That's bold. I just don't see it though. Mavs got the shots they wanted just couldn't finish. I do think that Mavs will need a third player to score to balance their attack. I'm a lifelong Celtics hater, so I don't concede anything to them.

JMO: Mavs got the shots the Celtics "wanted" them to get. Mavs didn't have a single "lob basket" that I can remember. Luka had ONE assist. In first 3 quarters, Mavs attempted ONE three-point shot from the corner. Went 0-1. Went 1-2 from corner in 4th quarter, which I considered garbage time. Meanwhile, Celtics were 5-12 on corner 3s.
Bottom line, Celtics just have TOO many VERY solid defensive players for the Mavs. They hardly ever double teamed. They have 2 guys (White & Jrue) that are just a notch below Herb Jones. Then, 4 others who are waaay above average on D. Just a terrible matchup for a team like the Mavs...and the reason this series' betting odds "went off" at Celtics -$2.40 which is an absolutely HUGE number for an NBA finals' series. Just my opinion...I COULD be wrong.

The NBA is not overly fond of sweeps...and the Celtics are known for losing their intensity for extended periods (as they did last night in the 3rd quarter). I'd guess the Mavs will win a game or even two...probably a game when Doncic shoots around 15 free throws or he goes nutz and hits 9-12 from 3-pt line. Not sure Kyrie can explode like Doncic...vs this group of individual defenders that the Celtics can throw at him.
Be interesting to see if Mavs can come up with some adjustments in game 2. I'm not very optimistic for them.

Mavs had better shot quality last night according to the data, though it was essentially equal.
Mavs missed a shite ton of wide open shots, way more than normal or you'd expect...especially Kyrie.

Sometime back in February or March someone posted here that the Mavs were built for the playoffs. Props to whoever said that.

Just curious if Boston has 5 and Luca makes 6 who’s the other to round out your ridiculous list?

I'm gonna assume he has Kyrie in the top 7. BTW: If this game gets ugly...I'd guess Luka might get "hurt" & sit most of this one out.

Wow so Luka was questionable and playing hurt but still has 13 points in the first quarter.
So wait its possible for players to be hurt and still play well in big playoff games?? I was told thats not possible as a pelicans fan lol
