This off-season was mega important for the future to be anything more than maybe winning a playoff series . Can’t help but feel like we already squandered it .

Lol, we haven’t even gotten to the new league year yet. This board some times lol

Why?

Griff plays everything safe. He's too much of a pussy to make a big move. He already showed you his hand during the draft. Expecting him to change course would be insanity

How do you know the ask wasn't just too much?

For your own sanity you need to unplug and forget about this team for a few days at least. They should not make anyone this upset when they aren't actually playing.

You're that upset because he didn't trade away BI or Zion to get Scoot?

He just drafted arguably the best shooter in the draft.

From The Athletic:

quote:

Hawkins has a very real case as the best shooter in the 2023 NBA Draft. His jumper is entirely projectable to the next level, not only in terms of making spot-ups but also creating shots from 3 at volume with his off-ball movement. These players who can do this are worth their weight in gold. He’s going to make life for stars around him easier. On top of it, he works defensively, and he has some upside as a shot creator.

Yep

Clogging up every single thread isn't helping either.

I agree but I also get it.

Duck feels about Griff the same way I do about Dennis Allen.

I am convinced Allen is the worst coach in the NFL by a longshot and the Saints are absolutely retarded to retain him. It clouds my judgment on every move they make.

I can't see any positive because of how stupid I think Allen is. So I mostly just don't post about the Saints anymore because I think they're gonna suck.

Only reason some of y’all don’t like griff is the agrevation of Zion injuries..this was a great 1 pick draft filling hole with top shooting rookie. Having to add picks to get rid of bad contracts that didn’t work out (devante graham)is a norm in nba…especially for small market teams that have to overpay free agents

Yeah this doesn’t even measure on the richter scale of seismic Pelicans frick-ups (even if Hawkins doesn’t play a minute). I mean it wasn’t even that long ago we fired Monty Williams for a disappointing season and first round exit and decided Alvin freaking Gentry was the guy to turn us around enough to keep AD. This is the same franchise that traded a pick for Asik, handed him $60m contract, then days later gave Ajinca $20m.

We have made, and will make, much worse decisions then drafting a great shooter in the middle of the first round

Hawkins also seems to check the "good kid" box

"Did great in interviews"
"Players impressed with him"
"Eager to get started and work hard"

etc etc

Griffin and Langdon have proven time and again that they are after players that may have a lower ceiling than someone like Whitmore, but are happy to come to New Orleans and buy in to what we've built so far

Every player we have added in Griffin's tenure has fit that mold, except for one.. and that player fell into his lap by sheer dumb luck. Whether it's good or bad luck, remains to be seen
