We've always been strong - especially since we've only won 1 series since relocation in the early 2000's.

The notable exceptions were the flawed teams that lost to the Heat and the Nuggets (and even the first home game v's Denver was decent crowd. I was sitting right by Lil Wayne and Birdman at that one, blee dat).

03 Sixers playoff games: B- we were newbies
04 Heat playoff games: C- I remember many of my buds went to see meaningless LSU baseball in the Dome over our Hawnits / Heat. Sad! But the team sucked.
08 Mavs playoff games: A we was great
08 Spurs playoff games: A we was great. Game 5 I sat in VOR's seats and banged chick I brought with me. This was pre-politics and didn't realize how lame his worldview was.
09 Nugs playoff games: C+ team was arse and huge disappoint
11 Lakers playoff games: A- we was solid team was flawed but played hard.
15 Warriors playoff games: B- I wasn't there but there were too many W's fans
18 Blazers tonight: A+ will be best NOLA NBA fans in history of the franchise mates

Imagine being so self-righteous you couldn't possibly interact with someone with a different opinion than yours.

BTW, you don't deserve VOR

That’s actually pretty spot on grades imo. I don’t know if this crowd will reach Spurs heights though.

If they can manage to advance, you will see way less Ws fans this time around even with the bandwagon growing exponentially.

A compliment coming from you, brother. They were great seats, and your girl didn't even get arrested for solicitation. Sounds like a win, win.

Definitely agree, especially with the past two runs against GSW & Portland.

Three Biggest Factors for this have been:

1. Time - the franchise has been in NOLA for 16 seasons now. There's a generation of NOLA/Louisiana/Gulf Coast kids who only know NOLA as an NBA town, which is huge for building fan support.

2. Name Change - The Hornets name felt borrowed and out of place (b/c it was). The Pelicans name is authentic and fully Louisiana.

3. Franchise Players - Chris Paul made the city proud, but Anthony Davis is more exciting. People love The Brow, he's a human highlight reel, who electrifies the crowd with monstrous dunks and blocks. Plus, AD has the advantage of playing mostly as a "Pelican" and playing further along in the franchise's history than Paul. Baron Davis, Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler etc. helped lay the foundation for what the fanbase is today.

That being said, I still wish the fans would show up more for regular season games. It seems as if the only way to attract near-sellout crowd is by playing a contender on a weekend night.

The Warriors fans are all Westbank and Kenner poors that can't afford playoff tickets. Classy Metairie Pels fans will be taking their place.

Interesting thread from the twitter.

Andrew Smith @DruProductions

Couldn't ask for a better playoff home opener from the Pels

Oleh Kosel @OlehKosel Retweeted Andrew Smith

Will we some day reflect back on 4/19/2018 and call it the birth of meaningful and incredibly entertaining playoff basketball inside the city limits of New Orleans?

Britt Benoit @brittxbenoit Replying to @OlehKosel

I sit behind AD’s family and I can assure you no one was more impressed with the energy in that arena than them.

And mama was all about Fresh & Juvie!

Keep in mind that even though the first 2 people cover the Pels, the last bit is twitter fan reporting so it should probably be treated like a twitter trade rumor.

we have good fans... Its just that we're a small market who is borderline on whether we can even support a team. The so-called corporate fans are a double-edged sword. You kinda need them, but you. Don't. Really. Want. Them

And the least profitable team in the NBA.
