Appreciate your positive outlook on Harper. Board trashes our developing players all too often. However, he is auditioning and probably has the green light for his next team. Pelicans have no room, nor need for another small guard.

I am not out on Kira as he has an attribute that no one else on the team really has (elite speed). In my opinion, his comp is Tony Parker, who like Kira came into the league at an extremely young age and did not come in to his own until his 2nd and 3rd year. Likely Kira is also going to come in to his own on another team as Jose has displayed a defensive tenacity, similar to Herb, that is infectious.

He’s short.

There is nothing to support your statement of him being garbage.

Dude plays well for us every time he steps on the court in any type of situation. He doesn’t need a set of 100 special circumstances like Kira needs just to look average.

Went to the game today, had a blast. There was probably 30+ pels fans there, I was shocked. Met some great people and had a blast. Got pics with Jose and herb after the game.

That plowden good looked amazing. Always communicating on D and making every effort play, and making buckets too. No clue why they brought EJ back in that was dumb.

Go pels!

ETA: after sitting behind the bench and watching him most the game, Jose has got to be one of the nicest dudes and best teammate there is. Also seeing all the guys there and seeing them genuinely enjoying themselves and clowning around. Man, I have a special feeling about these pels

Is Jared Harper your older brother or younger brother?

If he had jose instincts on defense it would be different. He looks lost and overmatched on that end. His offense isn’t THAT good enough to overcome the defensive deficiencies. Wish him the best but that’s how I see it.

That first knee issue that EJ had was caused by Naji throwing an attempted lob that put him up in traffic…nice thought but it was a dangerous play that put EJ at risk. Likely not a pass that a lead guard would’ve thrown in the first place without creating more space.

Really sucks because EJ looked like he was beginning to get more comfortable and assertive prior to the injury.

Nope. Just watching the games. And making observations. He’s legitimately good and he gets zero love because he’s short. He should be on someone’s roster. Maybe ours doesn’t fit bc we already have our 5ft 9 guard in Jose. But my argument is he can likely give you consistently more than Graham and Kira despite his size.

Someone mentioned he looks overmatched on D. Maybe that’s true, but I see a guy who fights no matter who he is guarding and he often makes the correct rotation. He’s definitely not a lazy defender. Jose is on a different level obviously, but I’m more or less comparing his defense to Kira and Graham because those 2 are on the bubble of our roster.

Jose will be here a decade. I’m calling it now. Just everyrhing about that guy screams winner.

That love affair is more dad territory

Though I do think it’s interesting that so many definitive statements are being made off of one guy that didn’t even play 350 minutes this past season and another guy that hasn’t even played 70 minutes in three seasons.

Hopefully the pels are good and healthy enough in the future where neither Harper or Kira ever have to play real minutes

He's an NBA player and thus needs to be rated as an NBA player.

There is no world where you can say with any certainty Harper is a "legitimately good" NBA player. That would be mean he's in a rotation playing 25 minutes a night.

Why wouldn't you want Kira to play real minutes? The ideal situation is that he finally realizes his potential and becomes a starting caliber guard with elite speed to really break defenses with Zion.

I want to believe in Kira too and I know he’s young he has just been horrendous at basketball in his first two years. Just look at the stats in both years. He’s fast and athletic but he just isnt great at anything else and doesnt have a wide base of skills for me to think he’s going to drastically improve with time. He has decent assist:turnover ratios, but he really never takes risks with the ball when creating either.

Sophmore slumps are usually for players who had great rookie years. Guys who had below average rookie production should at least get a little better from rookie to 2nd year, where Kira regressed. PatBev actually made Kira look like an 8th grader last year when taking the ball up the court

It’s dumb to say Jared Harper is better or more valuable, so I dont agree with that part of this thread, but there will always be options better than Kira popping up IMO

Him and Herb both need to be here a decade. They both just play unselfish winning basketball.

If I could choose a son, it would be Alpheren Sengun.

Just giving Harper his props and saying he’s arguably better today than the worst 2-3 players on our roster. Temple as well.

He knows how to play basketball. His only limitation is literally size. But he is skilled and crafty. He’s like a better offense and less defense version of Jose. I’ll shut my trap about him for the rest of the SL though. I just would not be shocked if he played a role on our team this year if we can continue to stash him and we have some injuries.

Wish we would’ve drafted Saddiq Bey. Don’t know how he fell so hard. Pistons had to tell him to find another hobby and take a small break from basketball. Guy is committed and been training in high altitude mountains.

the crazy thing about harper is this.. when harper played in some real nba games for us and against real nba players, dude held his own on offense and defense meaning he played good and no one on this board can honestly say he didnt..

I literally see nothing in Harper that makes me think he's any good.

He's a ball hog number 1.

The dude made TWO fricking shots and you got people claiming he's close to Jose lol.

Most of his points have been on FTs that have come on wild out of control drives where some no name bum fouls him.

He's not getting those calls in the NBA for starters and no NBA player would play defense as bad as these clowns.

He literally is just flailing around like a midget Harden.

He's NOT good.

Daeqwon Plowden looked legit out there and had more control on offense/ defense than any of our other players. I also liked the hustle of Petty and the fact that he went 0-3 from 3pt then came in and went 3-3 in 2 minutes to make up for it.

I’d rather guys like that than Naji who unsuccessfully ran coast to coast several times with a full shot clock and failed against scrubs. The dude is playing his same game as the last 2 years which doesn’t look improved and his on ball IQ almost looks like it’s gone down for him.
