Man, imagine getting juicy bits that CajunMD is laying down right now and still deciding to bicker back and forth over some dumb shite
I could see doing what we could to make sure Trey’s name didn’t leak out in any talks. He seems like he would be very sensitive to trade discussions and take it personally.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Trajan wanting to trade BI last year but Griff saying no is true. Griff has shown that he’s willing to risk taking less on a player in exchange for seeing if the player can potentially develop into a better asset or if better offers come along. Without knowing what will get for BI now or knowing what we could have gotten for BI last year, we can’t say how much it’s cost us. Though it’s hard to imagine that cutting bait like Trajan wanted wasn’t the absolute right call.

would say the two closest negotiation wise is Murray and Garland.
Is the 2025 pick a point of contention with ingram or is it included with every ingram trade?

I find that strange. Are they wanting to keep Murray and Trae together? They’ve done nothing since being paired together and seems like they have chemistry issues as well.
They believe BI is a rental that will want to be overpaid. And they think they use Murray to get something else. Or just roll out there with all three and see how it plays out.

They’re not wrong on this. You do wonder if ATL agrees to this trade CajunMD references will they actually give BI the max?

I can’t imagine that anyone gives BI the max. When it leaked out that we were unwilling to, I think that all but confirmed that a max offer just isn’t out there for him.

I don't really understand your question?
Posted on 6/25/24 at 5:55 pm to CajunMD
I'm assuming a lot of teams are asking for the Laker 2025 pick to go with Ingram to get a star player back. Just trying to see if that's been a deal breaker in any capacity.

I read somewhere that the team BI goes to can't offer him the extension for 6 months. I"m not sure why that is b/c we were able to extend Adams and JV when we traded for them.

Any realistic center trade that doesn't include Capella coming back?
Would Mitchell Robinson be the only clear possibility?

No. You flip him and Trae Young and rebuild. If Ingram has a season like 2019-2020, someone will pay him. If he plays like he did the past two years, no way he gets his asking. Like he said, he's betting on himself - he really is. He has nothing to lose. He is set for life. If you had the chance to make that much money and were talented enough to potentially get it, would you pass it up? Ingram wants to be here. But he is willing to do whatever it takes to get that check. I don't blame him.

I’m pretty sure it depends on the type of extension. IIRC, he could extend, but is capped on the %raise that he can extend for. If he wants a true max, he’d have to wait 6 months
Then again, I’ve stopped trying to relearn the new cap rules, so that all could be completely outdated

Not for the deals that are being discussed. It's always possible though if a bidding war happens. But if it comes down to that or trading away a young talent they really like, they will trade the player first (Dyson, Jose, Herb, Hawkins). Every pick after 2024 is part of our war chest. We will have one more potential attempt before Zion's next contract to get our guy and get into the tax. Chances are 1/100 every year. The only ammo we really have is what we get from the Ingram trade, CJ trade, picks. Picks next year are valuable. But, young players like the ones mentioned above are also valuable. Both can land you a star.
Remember the feeling when we trade for Boogie Cousins? Remember the nostalgia? That is honestly what Griff is banking on.

CJ trade,
Interesting, so is it safe to assume CJ is being thrown around in trade discussions as well as BI and would they actually trade both?

The Pels really like Capella. And he will cost you far less in assets compared to others.
For what the asking prices are right now, I would say Robinson is most budget friendly. The rest would have to be three team trades where we give up a ton. You only do that for a Mobley type on a good contract. Pelicans don't need an allstar stud at center. Although most of us prefer a Center like AD who can spread the floor and shoot 3's when open, the FO feels the opposite. It's hard to find exactly what you want. And the big athletic rebounder is much more attainable than the other.

CJ currently, no. For the right piece, yes.

IIRC boogie trade came out of left field

I just literally do not understand this thinking, we’ve seen for 5 years now the big lumbering 5 does not work with Zion and he pairs way better with smaller faster guys like Nance. The fans can see it but what is supposed to be a room full of basketball geniuses cant?
