I only want Jaxson back if it's on a near-minimum salary, and we're planning on him as the #3 option at center.

With the defensive ability of Herb, Dyson, and Jose, we will continue to generate a large number of live-ball turnovers. We need to be able to run. And JV can't run.

Just thought too about the fact that one of the best ways to generate open 3s is in transition and semi-transition, and the need to generate more open 3 is going to be a key factor in the growth of our offense.

I have a name that’s within the realm of possibility that I haven’t seen mentioned much, if at all, that I REALLY like the idea of. Some people want to go after Claxton, I say we go after the next Claxton- a young center who clearly has talent, just needs a bit more opportunity.

Onyeka Okongwu is extension eligible this summer. Atlanta has a lot of cap space eaten up by Young/Collins/Capela/Hunter. They’re all making 20 M plus a year. Murray will also be up for an expensive extension soon. They just traded a bunch of picks and are the 7 seed…could see them doing something a bit rash (imo) and shopping both their centers to clear that logjam. I’n sure they’d prefer to sell Capela, but not sure what the market for him would look like. if they can get young talent and picks for their backup center…isn’t that at least a LITTLE appealing?

I wouldn’t want to do this, but I could also see them being interested in Dyson. A straight up swap seems somewhat fair. Their guard play sucks behind Trae/murray/Bogie (who has a player option this summer), and they save money because Okongwu will be $14 -18 million on his rookie extension Vs Dyson’s rookie salary.

It’s Jonas. We would be stupid to replace him on a good contract for his production. So much of the league has gone small so he can bully a lot of teams and play tall ball. I don’t get why people want him gone.

Totally understand what you’re saying but Willie and most teams now don’t take advantage consistently enough. Jonas will be 31 and on an expiring contract next year.

Here are the +/- totals for the season:

- JV was -10

- Larry was +182

For the entire season, we were a negative team when JV was on the floor. I simply cannot imagine why y'all want to start him at center again next season.

By contrast, when Larry was on the floor, we scored 182 points more than our opponents. Of course, we know that Larry can't handle the pounding of starting at center all season -- Larry gets banged up enough as it is.

But the simple fact is that we were really a extremely good defense this season when Larry played and we could switch everything, and we were a poor defense when teams could abuse JV in the pick-and-roll.

Yes, at the end of the season, JV had some good games and Larry was hobbled by injury, but are y'all really this afflicted with recency bias? Don't y'all remember all the games earlier this season when we'd get behind in the 1st quarter, and we'd groan as we waited for Willie to get JV out of the game?

7 a game. you are correct.
7 is below average for the big boys.

elite rebounders 10+.
jv 10+
a lot of bigs at 9.

Jonas led the league with 23% reb rate this past season

….

Nance 14.5%
Hayes 12.3%
Zion 12%

The rest of our front court rebounds like guards. Dyson Daniels is lb for lb your next best rebounder after JV. And yet somehow the Pels were 5th in the league in rebound rate )thanks to JV)

Zion is no where close to being the best rebounder on a team. If you have real aspirations of being a contender, guys like Nance and Hayes see the court ~10 min a game as rotational bigs. You go find another C to split with JV

Everyone says “upgrade JV”, who exactly are these upgrades that we can get?

Embid?
Joker?
Ayton?

Or are talking a wildly overpaid player who doesn’t rebound as good as JV?

People are simultaneously arguing that JV isn't good enough to be a starter and then to go get Turner or Claxton for JV and only one 1st.

Why would a team do that?

This year proved it's foolish to build around Zion. You need to build a balanced roster without Zion and let Zion carve out his own role.

I really don’t see an available upgrade that’s better than JV unless you want to break the bank for turner. Like maybe ATL would move capela but that seems like a lateral move. Capela is a better defender but JV is a much better offensive player. I would love to grab okongwu from ATL but I can’t see them giving him up. He’s like bam lite, perfect modern big

Turner makes 19 and 21m the next two years before becoming a UFA.

It would cost extra draft capital to get him. We can easily stay under the tax.

I did like what i saw from him this year but he seems more like a good backup than a starter. I wonder if the Knicks would move mitchell robinson? he apparently had some friction with them this year and he's from Nola

Some names that aren’t as high profile but can protect the rim…

- Christian Koloko
- Bismack Biyombo
- Bruno Fernando
- Isaiah Jackson

All those guys played smaller roles (between 400-1000 minutes) but were in the top 10 in shot blocking %

Paul Reed too…his advanced stats in non scoring stats were impressive and the 76ers hasn’t been a super fun place for him (Doc Rivers said he had to talk to his teammates many times about it….apparently they were super douches).
