I think it's still gonna be JV.

Me too, unless they try and package the pick with him for an upgrade. But even that I have a hard time imagining.

I feel like we have to move on from him. My personal feelings about his contributions to this team are irrelevant but its undeniable that WG doesn't value him in key moments. That comes through in both his playing time and in his usage when on the court.

So whether you like him or hate him, we aren't using him correctly and he needs to go unless WG will start putting him in the right spots and having the team look to him when appropriate.

Absolutely going to be JV. Willie and Griff are stubborn and there will be no real changes. They are going to blame everything on injuries.

Don't have to move on from him just yet. Just need to add someone to balance his weaknesses out. It'll be very hard to replace his rebounding and points at the position. He's also very durable. We just need to replace Hayes and Hernangomez with guys who can actually play competently and stay in the rotation.

We need to develop Hayes, he has all the tools to be elite. If it is work ethic and not lack of developmental coaching they need to say something.

It's likely whoever we trade JV for. He simply cannot jump. He cannot defend the rim. He's too slow in defending the pick-and-roll.

At this stage of his career, JV is a starting center on a lottery team or a quality backup on a playoff team.

I just think that the center position is going to look radically different for us next season. Of the four guys who played center for us this season: JV, Larry, Billy, and Jaxson, I think that only Larry will be back next season.

We lost some games this season because Larry is not a strong enough rebounder and we gave up some critical offensive rebounds with Larry closing games. But Zion is a quality rebounder (when he isn't leaking out early for a possible break in transition). Lineups with both Larry and Zion should have the rebounding that we need.

So, I think that Larry is still a fit for the team. I simply do not think that we can afford to spot opposing teams early leads as their guards repeatedly break us down in the P&R.

.

Yet he’s arguably the best rebounder in the league on a team full of shitty rebounders

If you replace him it better be with another elite rebounder

It wont be JV because Griff literally said there will be fitness requirements to run the point 5 offense they want to from this point forward.

I already can see JV putting up 30 and 20 on us if he gets traded

Auh... JV doesn't have fitness issues. He may be athletically limited but there's no evidence of him having fitness issues in the 10 years he's been in the league.

Hopefully not Val, but even if it is, Nance will be our "small ball" 5...and beginning next year...will start his evolution to becoming "our" version of Lopez and/or Horford.

Check his #s at Cleveland...Nance CAN become a solid, decently high volume, 3-pt shooter with maybe 50-60% of his shots being 3s & shooting maybe 36-38% from the 3-pt line, especially if he ends up shooting most of his 3s from the corner. Of course, he's not the rim protector that Lopez is, but I think he could be better at P&R defense than Lopez.

I assume Nance will read this post...and immediately begin developing his 3-pt shot...if he has any desire to have a few more PRODUCTIVE years in the NBA, like Lopez & Horford did, about 8 years into their careers. It would also help our overall 3-pt shooting frequency to hopefully get somewhat closer to the 35-40% which I think WG wants for the Pels.

This is the whole issue. Are we building around Zion or not?

Zion is an elite rebounder and we don’t have to have a rebounder at JV’s level IF Z’s gonna play.

Very frustrating because I think our front office has to build around Z, but also hedge a little bit based on the injury precedent Zion has shown.

We went into the season with that Mindset and Nance got more playing time than JV when he was healthy in the first 3 months. The problem with Nance is that he won't last the season and will rack up a bunch of injuries over the course of the season.

We have elite young athletes who are lethal in transition, especially Zion, Herb, Trey, and Jose. Dyson, BI, and CJ are all good players in transition as well.

With the defensive ability of Herb, Dyson, and Jose, we will continue to generate a large number of live-ball turnovers. We need to be able to run. And JV can't run. He's a half-court guy on a team that needs to be a full-court offense.

how long does it take to develop? dumbass has been here for 4 full years and is still dumb as shite, and picks and chooses when he feels like hustling.
If he does well somewhere else, then good for him, but i'm done with him.
