Bold prediction: We give Derozan Max money this summer

We trade Ryan to Orlando for some crap

We trade Gordon to Sac for more crap

We trade Tyreke to the Jazz for booker and Hood

Asik becomes so useless by the end of the season he barely plays 5 mins a game

Jrue disappoints when he starts

If we sign Derozan to half a max contract I'm done. He's way too much of a low percentage chucker for my taste.

If you really weren't vying for attention, you wouldn't have posted in this thread at all.

You wouldn't post in a thread discussing your predictions?

He probably just got tired of doing It, his fandom came with homework and deadlines.

That's what he signed up for. What did he expect a fan blog to be like?

5. The next trade will happen the week of Jan 17th and will involve Tyreke Evans and Alexis Ajinca. Best educated guess - Tyreke and Ajinca to Sacto for Rondo and some combination of McLemore, Belinelli, and WCS. Maybe a pick swap option

I'd gladly take Rondo, McLemore, and WCS for tyreke and ajinca

Yep, an interaction forum with his options/writings. Some might not be an "expert" at the salary cap/development, that's still not a reason to come off like an arse. Share your knowledge and make the average joe more informed/educated. No one likes a condescending person in any form or fashion.

This. The vast majority of these guys do this in their off time. It is a lot of work. I did it for a very short period of time and was nowhere near as prolific as most of the guys doing it now, and it still got to be too much for me to continue. These guys spit out tons of content and start intelligent conversations by doing the grunt work that 99% of the people on this board (myself included) aren't willing (or able) to do.

Whether you agreed with MM most of the time or not, please recognize that this is a mostly thankless job that provides content for fans while mostly receiving a bunch of "you're an idiot" replies in return. There are much easier ways to get attention than blogging about the Pelicans. People who do that are about elevating the discourse around the team, not themselves.

He is really hyping up his "retirement" as if people GAF. I give him 5 months before he is back seeking more attention.

It's kind of sad

Pretty much. It's kind of pitiful that people want to take pot shots at the guy. I mean, he could be sort of a dick occasionally, but so can all of us.

Maybe if we could immediately move Rondo elsewhere. He would be an awful fit for Gentry.

You cannot be a dick and be an unpaid New Orleans Pels blogger who is a PE teacher from Utah. Nope, sorry, can't do it. Maybe if the guy was somewhat endearing or charming, but alas, he's not. He's narcissistic, condescending, and know it all by nature. It's just a bad look.

Now if you're Lowe or Russilo or Simmons or Jalen Rose, you can say and interact however you want with fans. You made it, you make six figures talking about basketball, your personalities are well known. You can't if youre McNamara.

Too bad, too. He had the hard part down, which was knowing and writing about ball. The easy part would be relating with the fans on social media, which is where most are consuming their info anyway

You guys are nuts if we are supposed to give these bloggers a break, like they don't chose to do this for free. We "pay" them by clicking their articles or coming to a board like this to discuss their content. Just so happens it's negative for MM bc he brings it upon himself. Guys like Madison? And the guy from UT and the bird writes get it- those guys market themselves (whether intentionally or not) well to the consumer and know their shite- they also engage with fans regardless of their Bball IQ. They are probably glad the rogue PE teacher from Utah is gone, TBH

On the one hand I do think there are a lot of people that target these bloggers because of personal vendettas without justification. They get called out, proven ignorant or whatever on a board. Then they chase these guys around and harass them. MM would post on the other Pelicans forum and there were a handful of people always running around trying to personally attack him.

That is certainly one part of it.

On the other hand, a number of the BSS writers(including MM occasionally, though he has had some good pieces) regularly make eye rolling, throwaway pieces that basically serve as a platform to talk down to fans and wax poetical on their self proclaimed expertise at analyzing and why everyone else's opinions are trash. Opinion pieces that really haven't been very insightful, meaningful or even correct. You would think so many predictive misses might humble some of them but it hasn't. And since these guys are(or were) producing most of the content, BSS has turned mostly to trash. Even the recent Mavs recap was littered with little demeaning comments towards fans or anyone that would dare disagree with the expert opinion of the BSS blogger.

Honestly the best work from the local beat writers have been John Reid occasionally and The Bird Writes guys.

42 still has his fastball

I tend agree with the "you signed up for this" sentiment, while also recognizing I have no idea just how much utter nonsense McNamara or whoever see on a regular basis from randos. And I do appreciate the work he has done, regardless of whether or not I have agreed with him. If nothing else, he has raised the discourse level.

While I do think the overall Pels output has been mediocre (TBW trade ideas just kill me), honestly, there's not a lot to say about this team right now. They're not terribly interesting in anything they do on or off the court. They made a big bet on this core group of players. It simply hasn't paid off and we're seeing costs.

The organization hasn't done much the last few years to inspire confidence they can get off the path they're heading and not piss away Davis. Certainly, things can change. Yet, it's a fairly depressing time to be a Pels fan.
