…we shouldn’t give up on this team
after a disappointing loss. These guys have character and are, whether you acknowledge it or
not, well-coached.

We're not well coached when we win. It's the players playing well. When we lose it's 100% coaching. That's the rules

I stand by my comment. The results speak for themselves. Anyone who watches the game objectively knows it’s true.
I’m not saying Willie is perfect. I’m
saying that he’s done a good job under what are sometimes some tough circumstances.

He’s sufficient. I’m not saying he’s dog shite. But he’s not a top coach. With a top coach this team has more wins. That’s not a knock on the success we’ve had. He’s still new at it so I’m hoping he grows but he still does some of the same stubborn silly stuff and it drives me nuts at times.

Who is a top coach IYO

Because as best I can tell by scrolling Twitter on any given day, the fans of at least 20-25 other teams have similar complaints about their current coaching situation too. NBA fans love to ascribe their team’s problems to the coaching staff

You can defend when this team is struggling to score some nights, middle is clogged up with a wall defending Zion and he keeps running JV to camp in the center, Naji getting extended minutes while you have a sharp shooter like Ryan sitting on the bench and Hawkins in the g-league? ATOs where we have no movement and dribble until the shot clock runs out and we throw up a contested three?

The reality is that he has used JV effectively and won with that strategy.

BigPerm you know damn well you arent allowed to shite on Willie after beating a team by double digits. Of course there's absolutely context to every game but I saw that even with BI down, Willie is gonna ride with Naji and Jose.

And thats why I have our ceiling at the second round. We will win the games that Harden / PG / Kawahii have terrible shooting nights, but we will lose the games that they have even an everage shooting night.

At the end of the day the difference was and will always be the 3pt shooting.

We shot 50% last night, they shot 27% on 47 attempts with a 3pt diff of 15 points.

What I did like a lot though is how we stopped turning the ball over in the second half by A LOT.

This team wins when their defense sets up their offense and the ball moves continuously. We can hold out until BI is back. He barely had a limp last night and no brace so that’s a great sign. He could be ready to roll in 2 weeks. Have to take care of business in Detroit because subs will be hard to come by these next few games. If we can go 3-3 over our next 6 I would call that a massive win. Hopefully we get BI back for the Sacramento or Golden State game so he has 2-3 games to shake off the rust before the playoffs. If we got him back for the Sacramento game April 11th that would be 3 weeks to the day since he got hurt. I think that’s a plausible timeline for his return.

This team has looked well coached the last few weeks. I was not a Willie supporter for most of the year, but he seems to be figuring things out. Rotation is tighter/makes more sense. We play zone defense quite well. There’s a little more of an identity/pecking order on offense. Hes used timeouts really well to prevent those backbreaking runs.

It’s possible for Willie to grow and change too. That’s always been the hope. Get better and adapt. I’m certainly turning the corner. The playoffs will be a big test for him.

On every fan site for every sport, the coach is the easy target for frustration.

Willie has done a pretty good job. The players like him and play hard. I don't get the hate. He is still young and learning.

I think there may be some valid criticism to his in game adjustments and his rotations but I’ve seen some substantial growth the past couole of weeks which gives me hope.

- benching CJ v Clippers in clutch to help seal the game.
- benching Zion and Nance to play through JV against the Heat.
- after Jose had some miscues against the Nets- getting in Jose grill to call him out on it- regardless that Jose was playing in his hometown.

Just these last few games- Willie has took some massive leaps. I’ll be interested to see how he does in the playoffs.

I don't get it either. He's had a good year. I don't think another coach would have done any better. We have a chance at a 50-win season. That's beyond my expectations. Green should get a ton of credit for that, if we get there..

Just heard Gus say that the team shoots 39% from 3 away and 37% at home. Pregame shooting is all done at the practice facility and not at the SK arena. He was suggesting that they try to do pregame shoot arounds at the SK arena and see if it makes a difference.
