I really think we end up with Claxton...
They can pay BI 50mil next season and have only 80m in salary. They are also full tank mode.
It's the one team that can pay BI regardless and has the player we need.
We just can't make the trade until December 15th.
Which would make sense why we haven't dumped him for less or why its been quiet.

Disinterested is his normal look and disposition. He said everything you would want him to say and he said the way he always says anything.
You can tell he was uncomfortable/ disappointed but its not like regular BI is bouncing off the walls with joy lol

Herb walked out and I think someone asked about Trey so he said "you know what" and walked off lolol
Trey on the mic..

Trey: I feel I'm a starter. I'm a starter in the NBA.

Yeah Trey didn’t sugarcoat it, he wants to be a starter but knows it’s not up to him.

They’re gonna have to find a way to get Trey permanently into the starting 5 within the next year or so or that’s going to get bumpy as well

I think he starts the season on the bench, because Willie, but will be the starter by the deadline because BI will be traded.

That was a solid interview. Reporters asked straightforward questions and he gave straight answers. For sure, "but its not like regular BI is bouncing off the walls" ....
Takeaways were the injury was more of an issue than let on and acknowledged health is the reason he is in the position he's in. Also said communication is something he's working on with teammates, coaches, the front office, and reporters. Also, he pretty much said he's been approached about chipping in at the five.

It's just dumb. If BI wants to pout, he can pout from the bench. Trey is the future at that position, we know we're moving on from BI. Don't waste another year of Trey in the backup role, why would we do that?
It hasn't even happened yet, and it's driving me crazy

Unfortunately, there is a lot of politics involved.
On top of that, if you think his trade value is shot now, just wait until he's sulking as a benched player.
They don't have a choice but to start him, and its their own fault for trying to trade him 1 year too late

tried telling all y'all "let's keep BI" folk... keeping him will/would cause tons of problems in the locker room, win or lose...

terrible idea... benching him kills pretty much all trade value you have in him... it's already well known we are looking to move on from him and that's depressed his value, as is... basically, we are going to have endure at least half the year with this dude, let's just hope we don't implode before then.

For sure you need to get over it. TM3 can beat out any number of players to start.

We're going to sacrifice winning more games for maybe getting a little bit of extra value out of BI?
No thanks, I prefer maxing out winning right now and letting BI walk, then not putting winning as the #1 option, trying to showcase BI and maybe getting an extra backend 1st round pick as a result.

Per Fansp trade machine Claxton could be traded as soon as October 4th which marks 3 months since his extension…
If true, then we could send BI with JRE and say Matt Ryan for Claxton and DFS then.
ETA: Just looked and the three months is correct since he didn’t sign for more than 4 years and didn’t get more than 5% raises (contract actually declines)

Replacing DFS with Noah Clowney or Trendon Watford works.
