Depends on how the rights work with retirement.

I’m trying to find that portion of the CBA but I can’t… and I would only be looking at the 2017 version and not the newly ratified one.

“I was serious and I’m still serious about it,” James said then. “Obviously, I got to continue to keep my body and my mind fresh. I think my mind, most importantly. If my mind goes then my body will just be like, ‘OK, what are we doing?’ “But, at the end of the day, either if I am or if I’m not, I’ve done what I’ve had to do in this league and my son is going to take his journey. And whatever his journey, however his journey lays out, he’s going to do what’s best for him. … So, just because that’s my aspiration or my goal, doesn’t mean it’s his. And I’m absolutely OK with that.”

Pretty thoughtful answer for Lebron. I think he knows bronny would be best served being in college for more than 2 years.

quote:

James’ health, as well as the physical and mental toll of his first deep postseason run in three years, could be a factor. James told ESPN that he will be getting an MRI to see if he needs offseason surgery. He had initially been told he would need season-ending surgery after consulting multiple medical professionals about the tendon tear in his right foot, but he said the “the LeBron James of feet” assured him he could rehabilitate and return without a procedure. James opted to rehab and return while acknowledging that his performance would likely be impacted.

I really do commend the Lebron sucks acolytes for their persistence to the cause. I used to relish in Lebron’s failures for who knows why. But the guy just continues to do impressive things. Lakers were dead in the water this season but he chose not to end his season and play through an injury, and brought his team to the conference finals.

And no way lebron retires. He is taking a Kareem/Jeter victory tour next season and getting the lake show to run it back with one additional big piece this offseason.

Every season he has some reason to see a special 'doctor' separate from team doctors, and comes back playing 47 minutes a game like he's 20 years old

Oh I mean he’s clearly on some type of performance enhancer or HGH. I assume the whole league. Someone basketball gets no shade for it, but the basketball playes didn’t all become David Robinson because of more squats and paleo.

I mean is Bronny going to be a 1st round pick? Also, don’t we the Lakers 1st rounder next year anyways?

Yeah right. He just wants the attention. “Oh LeBoo, how will we ever survive without you?” This way everyone talks about him possibly retiring and not him getting swept in the WCF.

The Athletic

Lakers’ LeBron James could need surgery for torn tendon in foot: Sources

quote:

Lakers superstar LeBron James played the last few months with a torn tendon in his foot that could require surgery this offseason, league sources confirmed to The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know:

James will undergo further evaluations, but a surgery that could sideline him for two months during the offseason is among the possibilities, sources indicated.
If surgery is required, James would be expected to recover by the start of training camp next season.

You think that we should simply ignore the fact that we have the Lakers' pick next season, with an option to defer it to the following year?

The key to getting another top-ten pick from the Lakers is not to talk about it?

Should we have a Lakers Offseason Thread? Please vote up or down on this post. I will personally abide by its results.

The 2024 draft is expected to be the worst in some time. You can pretty much count on us taking the Lakers 2025 pick. If that helps with anyone’s thought process.

Why isn't there a Spurs thread? Thunder thread? Rockets thread?

Yeah, I think the focus should be on strictly Pels....

Although it does seem like the Lakers threads do get numbies and excite people sometimes more than Pels talk

I downvoted.

I don't object to the thread, but it should never be stickied.
