I remember this day - 32 year old Magic announcing he was HIV positive.

While lots of people questioned his choices off the court and decision making when it came to safe sex...

Nobody equated this with his ability to play basketball

Yea... not the same

If Social Media existed back in the day, guys like Magic would have had a lot of explaining to do

Well. More so

I think the tough reality is the confirmation that Zion really is limited by his mental shortcomings (desire, maturity, intelligence, priorities, etc.) People were worried about his weight. Obviously, that's just one small example of the problems.

So, as much as you want to commit to him, doing so is really just lying to yourself.

I think the weight is just a reflection of his immaturity.

I mean, I guess it's possible that he gets it one day. Also possible that he'll always be an immature shitbird, and if that's the case - let somebody else deal with it.

I tend to be in the camp of "when someone shows you who they are, believe them."

his HIGH mark is 61 games... a tick under 3/4 of a season... that's the BEST he's given us, so far....

given his injury history, inability to stay in shape,
and you factor in all this new drama, and a kid, and it's easy to see why there is cause for concern amongst the fanbase, or at least those who haven't gone full Moriah for Zion

It was 84.7% of that season. He also missed the last 6 or so games due to the team shutting him down but he could have played given that he'd played with the thumb injury for I believe around 1 month. But once we weren't making the playoffs, the team shut him down.

This is a weird comparison. Magic retired when he announced he had AIDs. Nobody in the league wanted to risk playing against him..

I don't know what this means.

You said he played around 75% of that season, but it was 84.7%.

When he left the playoff bubble in 2020, I was pretty much ready to move on.

I have seen the BI or Zion for Scoot debate on here for a while when I was away. Where I land: I just want dudes to root for. Its not all about winning a title - something unlikely to happen any way.

Zion has tainted the waters enough over the 4 years. I'd prefer a fresh start.

This is the very essence of the debate. Zion is very likely our only chance to win a title in the next five years.

I want the Pelicans to win a title much, much more than I want "dudes to root for."

I have no emotional investment in Zion. If he puts in a full 82 this year and plays as he we know he can, I may bet on board. But I literally don't give a shite about him at all.
