Charlotte would have to secretly like BM more than Scoot

Scoot is redundant with them already have a lead guard in Melo.
Eta: This also saves Charlotte a million a year in salary while still getting their guy in Miller.

and we still need more if we are giving up BI’s prime years.

You are getting more, we’re getting the 2nd pick and 27th pick along with a 27 million dollar trade exception that we can use to bring in more guys.

We were 1st in the west before the Zion and BI wheels fell off

When the Zion wheels fell off you mean. Ingram didn’t contribute to us becoming 1st in the west, he was injured for most of that stretch. Frankly I’ve seen enough of BI to know he will never lead us to anything more than being a play-in team. Zion is the guy this team needs to be turned over to.

Let’s say this trade does happen and somehow benefits us. Doing this trade would destroy what little trust and respect our organization has. There is a reason DG tries to play the family shite like Dom Toretto. It’s because that’s really the only card he has and it will be until we win a championship or are contenders for at least 3-4 years. We are gonna live or die by BI and Zion so get that trading a star that actually wants to be here outta here

Do you really believe this and should this matter?

What is the benefit to running a "family" type of organization?

It's been 4 years and we have netted two playin seeds. The results haven't been great. We had almost no turnover last offseason. It's pretty rare for a noncontender to keep running it back.

Are you saying Ingram wants to be here? How would anyone know that?

I'm sure he's happy or maybe content. But he'd be just as happy playing and living in many different places. I doubt we are his dream situation. Even if it were, why would that matter?

I’m not sure if everyone else can see it, but Zion and Ingram really don’t get along all that well. You need two guys that are best friends on and off the court.

We will have the same problem as Boston, two stars that really don’t co-exist together and will keep falling short no matter what you put around them.

One of them needs to go, and I would rather keep the guy that I know could lead me to a championship if I get his health right over the guy that will be a play-in lose in the first/second round.

Love Ingram as a human, but on the court he will not be able to lead us where we want to be.

I agree moving your family is a big thing and Jonas is a family guy but regardless where he plays ball at in the NBA he’s made it clear he plans to eventually return to Lithuania and even has said he would play ball in Europe if it was the best opportunity. I think a deal in the $12.5 mil annually range would be a good offer to him for his age 31,32 and 33 year old seasons. I wouldn’t be shocked if he then left the states to play his last year or two in Europe.

I wouldn't classify it as that, I think it's more Zion isn't more than work friends with anyone on the team. I'm sure part of that is that he's played so few games and hasn't gotten to bond enough. The team has said many times when he's out with injury he feels separated from the team.

Who are the championship besties? You do need them rowing in the same direction, and accepting of the pecking order, but they don't need to be friends. I don't know where the "BI doesn't like playing with Zion" narrative came from when 1) they've barely played together 2) BI begged Stan to create 2 man actions for them and was rejected, and 3) BI has talked about how much space is created for him on the rare occasions that he has played with Zion.

Those 2 working out is still an unknown and it will have way more to do with their chemistry/fit on court than off court. We can't even say BI needs to be the one off ball more. On paper that sounds right because BI has more off ball ability than Zion, but a BI/Zion pick and roll might be the only play they need, like when prime Harden and Clint Capella would kill us with P&R lobs all game.

yeah you don’t need to be buddies to win rings. Look at Shaq and Kobe. They hated each other when they were winning. Both had the common addiction to winning a ring. Idk if both Z or Bi have that same drive and need tho.

Shaq and Kobe.

Shaq and Kobe were also arguably the best ever at their positions and played damn near every game.

Horrible comparison.

You’re talking about friendship on the team like it a huge factor. If it mattered so much, Those two wouldn’t have won so many championships.

Is butler besties with his teammates?

What about joker and Murray?

Steph, klay, draymond must really enjoy their time with each other off the court right?

I can't think of really any examples of title teams whose best 2 players were best friends off the court too other than Lebron/Wade.

I don't know that this is even a popular thing
in today's NBA.

Golden St - I don't think so

Milwaukee - Nope

Lakers - Nope

Raptors - Nope

Cavs - Nope

what the actual frick???

Boston's problem is that Brown and Tatum are redundant... they are basically the same player, thus neither gives you something varied from the other... makes them much more predictable and less dimensional.... Zion and Ingram are not even remotely close to the same player, thus the variation allows them to fulfill different roles whether both are on the court or not
