Except in this hypothetical of yours you’ll never know....Because Griff did in fact demonstrate his word not only can’t be trusted, but that he will sell you a bill of goods to string you along.

Players cant make accommodations to find a beneficial situation. JJ demanding a trade preseason is fricking irrelevant. a fart in the wind.

In fact, we might have been better off if he sat out seeing as how boo boo he was.

JJ hasnt done a favor to anyone. No one screwed JJ. The Pels did what was best for the Pels in the same way JJ did what was best for JJ when he signed here because "we offered him the most". Youre welcome for the bread JJ. You most definitely did not earn it here. But good on ya. Now frick off to some artisanal coffee house and quit trying to blast a small market organization because you didnt get to join the Brooklyn Banana Boat.

Especially after sending Jrue and AD to a legit contender like they wanted.
And I'm sure JJ would've been sent to one of his desired locations if they offered anything for him. Apparently they didn't. What "favor" did JJ do for the Pelicans, that he feels like he deserves to choose his destination? Came to the team because they paid him the most? Didn't request a trade in the offseason? How is that a favor?

I really dislike the mindset that NBA players have about the teams they play for and the contracts that they sign.

JJ didn’t lash out, he was entiriely level-headed and is ready to come to work for Dallas a d hopes to be on the bench or court by this week or next. All things you’d get if you didn’t just run with your imagination after being triggered by the first few words you apparently read from the thread

Griff even said in his press conference teams in the northeast weren’t interested in trading for him.

How is he supposed to tell Gayle Benson, hey uh, we need money to buyout this guys contract so he can play somewhere else. Also, a team contacted us about trading for him, but we said no to a second round pick and two guys who could help our 29th ranked defense. But back to the money we need, can I have it?

Now if you want to blame Griff for not trading him before the season, which he should’ve done, then that’s fine. But you can’t blame the end result and bitch about not getting bought out because the team you wanted to go to didn’t want to cough something up for you.

Actually seems like you’re more fired up than me. You a JJ stan account? You’re awfully ready to believe and defend a guy you hardly know over the organization. I’m only pointing out that this his side of the story. I’m not going to jump to conclusions over one disgruntled player like you.

ETA: I understand Griff may have been dishonest (not a good look) but I also don’t have a ton of sympathy for a guy who says he just wants to be close to his family when he signed a short term deal well above market value just 18 months ago. that doesn’t exactly inspire me to believe ONLY his side of the story

JJ can frick off. He quit on the team. We owe him nothing. Wish they would have traded him as far from Brooklyn as possible.

Griff probably should’ve honored JJ’s November trade request. We may have actually gotten some value back in a trade then.

Yea I’m in this boat. Sometimes GMs need to be a bit ruthless. And like I’ve mentioned...Griff took care of the guys who had major contributions to the franchise and city with Jrue and AD. JJ is not entitled to that same level of treatment and I doubt this hurts us more in free agency than being in NOLA already does

It’s very simple my man, when you make promises you keep them. Redick spoke with Griff about making a trade request, Griff made promises, Griff broke them:

- JJ went to Griff in the offseason to discuss a trade request due to what he anticipated to be a reduction in role and fit

- Griff said just come give it a shot, If in a month you still feel that way we will work to send you to a situation you want

- Redick followed back up and formally requested the trade as things played out like he anticipated and as family matters became front and center, Griff/Trajan again, on 4 different occasions, reiterated he would either find a landing spot or they would find a mutually beneficial buy out option.

Griff/Trajan misled and broke explicit promises they made to employees of their organization. It’s really that simple. If you don’t think that won’t have a knockdown effect you let me know the next time you have multiple job offers and one of them has a reputation for lying and disrespecting their employees and others don’t, and why you would choose the one with a poor reputation, all other things being equal?

JJ shouldn't be shocked a real contender wouldn't trade for him when he makes $13 million while having his worst statistical season in a decade.

Pels shouldn't be shocked a dude who owns a podcast network crapped on them publicly when they didn't do what he asked them to do.

JJ is trying to tear down Griff’s credibility when he’s already accommodated other players like AD and Jrue.

Yeah I'm sure if you asked Griff or Trajan off the record they'd tell you "sure we told JJ we'd trade him somewhere in NE if he felt the same after the season started. We also didn't expect him to play like shite and throw up career worst percentages for the majority of the season and damn near make himself untradable."

I mean whatever I get that he's probably frustrated. But it's not like they have some demonstrated track record of screwing over players in trades. AD went to LA and won a title. Jrue went to a top contender playing next to the MVP. Not every situation is going to work out for both team and player.

Exactly, "we will work" does not imply that Griffin is going to give him up for nothing. If Brooklyn wanted JJ, make a deal. It's obvious they wanted Blake Griffin and Aldridge more than JJ.I am so happy that David Griffin got us a couple assets and got rid of Melli in the deal. In this podcast JJ just sounds salty and entitled.
