re: Saints pick Kelvin Banks Jr.

4 firsts on that line. They better be good
Absolutely is the right thinking. But Saints gonna draft Shamar Stewart because of his RAS score and pass up talented game breakers. I want a Warren or Jeanty. We need dynamic playmakers on this team badly
Saints already do this and haven’t been winning much
This is good discussion I gotta get to bed haha.

I'm sorry... I'm not putting people involved in the shaping and caring for youth in the crosshairs- I feel it is more of a policy problem and just too many kids in need.

I think you’re right on with numbers issue. But at the same time I think the black community is stronger than in say the 90s. I don’t know if enough respect is given to the time is takes to change a culture built around oppression or better yet a mindset that perpetuates oppression as a fact even when it doesn’t always exist.

quote:

Fair point. Next question though... is it simple rebellion against the old heads, or is there a vein of anti-white in there too? I feel like there is a lot of intention to be 'different' that it ends up being anti anything 'those other people' do.

Oh it’s more than a vein. Establishment is white because that’s our population. Our history. But again I think that history runs so deep. It’s stupid because our history is so much more intermixed and complex but for so long it’s been preached seperate but equal (or not) that’s it’s been burned into the blood of our culture,

quote:

That's gotta sting. Do you think it is an antiblack sentiment, or a cultural sentiment, or an ingrained 'differentness'. Do you feel blacks are considered inferior as a culture bloc or as individuals? I assume you are black, or at least not white adjacent... do you feel like you must overcome stereotypes or do you feel like white people take you as an individual?

I don’t live life in an oppressed mindset because I have confidence in my abilities. That said I still get judged based on my appearance because that’s how life works for some. Those judgments happen person to person.

As for names…idk there. You’d die if I gave you some names I’ve heard in my career. But I think Chiquita isn’t even bad. Just reflects a diff background but that isn’t necessarily bad. I think holding onto culture in that way is great and reflects respect to the past.

quote:

These cannot fix what's broken. In my opinion, anyway. The time has passed where kids remember that one, special teacher that had a positive effect on them.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you here just because I’d like to think my work isn’t pointless  But we are all this just one piece of an equation

And I absolutely do believe the push for higher education has hurt a ton of people. I feel like that something that can easily be pushed more in our community.

quote:

Yes... but, a) why is it so damn popular? and b), where are the alternatives... alternatives that aren't cracker adjacent? quote

It’s anti establishment. That’ll always be attractive to young impressionable people. It’s dumb as hell But the lack of family units really perpetuate the negatives there. But there are alternatives in the black community. Sports is a huge one obviously.

quote:

Why don't black people (as a group, not entirely) see this? What do you think white people are missing noticing on both sides of the political aisle?

Have you read this thread? Liberals are typically either ridiculously anti racist or will at least lie to you with the hidden shite. Conservative keep it real but real means straight up being called inferior by plenty on that side. Not all mind you but the loud voices stick. And that’s the two sides you gotta choose between.

And yea I’m just saying poor Chiquita just needs to now be extra careful not to come off a certain way just because of a name. You may give her grace but the person at the next place might not.
Teachers. Social workers. Counselors. Mentors in the trades.i work everyday with young black men and women. And have seen them rise above circumstance to get degrees. Well paying jobs in trades…and stability for themselves and their families. shite I’m one myself if you want my story.

On both sides? We have people that glorify the shite like drugs in guns and music. We have had communities destroyed by the introduction of crack by the government. We have dems that perpetuate a system that doesn’t really benefit black people. And we have conservatives who won’t hire someone just because their name is Chiquita.

Exactly. Plenty of black people move away from shite like this. I’ve had plenty of tragedies and lost family to acts of violence from people of race. I keep my head on a swivel in certain spots. We ain’t dumb. There’s clearly a problem in our community. But trust me when I say there are a ton of people fighting to fix that everyday. But at the same time there’s plenty on both sides that work towards the opposite imo

Trey is a good fit with literally anyone because he’s the perfect 2nd option, I just don’t know if Zion is that the first option you want him attached to

You’re way off. AD is a much higher level player than Zion.

With his injuries your best deal might be Claxton and the Bucks pick from the Nets with another 1st along side that.

And thats fine. You’ll be better off building away from the headache cause you’re not getting what he should be worth

re: Houston Stalking Zion?

I really don’t know Zions value right now. He’s so unreliable and it isn’t like he’s some Kawhi Leonard level guy when healthy, hes been more like w borderline all star guy not a franchise changer at all

re: Tank for Flagg

Our other stars actually have played hard at least for a bit. AD definitely had his issues but dude showed tf out most times he was on the floor and carried some fricked up rosters to a couple of good seasons. Chris Paul was amazing considering he probably had the worst gm and ownership combo during his tenure here.

Zion isn’t even close to comparable to those two. He’s not on their level as a basketball player. Surround a young stud with a core of Trey Herb and Murray and give some hope to the hopeless

Trade him please
It’s time, just never gonna happen in NOLA with him.
Here we go again. Please just trade this guy

He’s also injury prone, can’t shoot, and always out of shape. He’s really just not that good now.

I just don’t see it happening with Zion here. Too many injuries, hasn’t improved or added anything.Id be happy to be wrong but idk.

Zion has been horrid to start the year
The team is definitely different but it won’t matter because they play the exact same way. Dumb as hell
