and we lose our ability to get better though the draft

How? If you’re only giving Trey and Poole you keep al your picks.

If that’s what Brown fetched, Dumars will never get three firsts for Murphy
Murphy is making like a third of what Brown makes. Browns contract is the elephant in the room.

If I had to guess, our price was something like Trey, Murray, and 1 or 2 firsts.

Small markets simply don't get the same price for stars. Jaylen Brown probably had some input on the trade as well. These teams accept 25% less all the time to appease players and agents. Should they? No. Do they? Yes.

Don’t forget guys Boston could have had Giannis if they offered Hugo Gonzalez in their deal. They refused. Now they have this.

They would have never done it without picks.
LAC '28 might be very nice pick and Philly '31 too (especially if they fail to do something next 2-3 years).

Then he wouldn’t have chosen Phiily. He hates Embiid and has spent all summer calling him a flopper

I have a hard time believing Boston prefers this package to a Murray/Herb/2 1sts package.

Fears/brown/murphy/zion/queen would have been wild to see.

We obviously weren’t offering that

That’s my point. I worded poorly. Point Queen would have feasted with those 4 around him. You have a closer at the end of games now.

I have to imagine Murphy may be on the move, because we are obviously not trying to win now if that was the price.

They get two firsts, deal off a guy who clearly didn't want to be there anymore and one extra year of salary relief.

They're on the hook for George for two years vs three for Brown.

I think ya'll are underestimating just how prohibitive three years of Brown at $60 million is.

It's a strange trade and I think definitely benefits the Sixers but I don't think it puts them close to the Knicks.

Such a horrible trade for the Celtics.

The pelicans should've been in on that.

A big three of Brown, Embiid, and Maxey is frightening

Don't forget about VJ Edgecomb. Everything depends on Embiid's health, though.

Whether he thinks Embiid is a flopper or not, he is a former MVP and had a nice rebound season last year. I'm sure he preferred playing and having a chance to win w Embiid, Maxey and VJ

Over something like Zion, DQ and Fears

Also, he's been living in the NE most of his adult life. Moving to Philly vs NOLA is less of a lifestyle change.

embiid healthy makes them a legit contender. Even no embiid and they can be a very good/deep playoff team if Edgecombe takes another step in his game

My friend had the idea to just sit Embiid for the entire regular season. As crazy as it sounds, it’s kind of genius. Embiid is healthy for the playoffs with less mileage. If I’m an away team ticket holder, I’d rather watch the Maxey/Edgecombe/Brown show than them feed Embiid in the post.
