Two first round picks, 2 second round picks, Paul George in return.

A big three of Brown, Embiid, and Maxey is frightening

It doesn’t matter if Embiid can’t stay healthy and show up in key moments.

According to Jake Fischer, if we actually wanted Brown, a Trey Murphy for Brown swap would have been done.

I fully believe this. At this point I’d rather have Trey over George.

Brown doesn’t have ties to DMV. Gotta save those unprotected first round picks in case someone from the DMV area or a former Washington Wizard becomes available

Does Trey have more value than PG. I feel he should. So Trey and a first would have done it.

I assume that Boston is trying to balance being moderately competitive and saving money (with Brown's contract going one extra year beyond PG's at $65 million) while rebuilding by gaining draft capital.

Not saying it will work, but depending on the draft capital, this allows the Celtics to bring in young talent or package those picks for a bigger fish down the line.

We also shouldn't underestimate the impact of a new ownership group. I know nothing about them, but they aren't guaranteed to be a group that is willing to spend money.

Ok now I seriously have to ask

What the frick is Joe doing?

No way we couldn’t have done a direct swap for Trey

Here is my thing. Does Brown instead of Trey make you a title contender in the West? Oh and you lose 1st rounders too. Thats something to consider in all this

If Boston accepted one of the worst contracts in the NBA and 2 1sts that won’t amount to much, then if anything they would have been giving us picks. There’s no universe where 36 year old PG and 2 picks is a better package than Trey and an expiring Poole.

And yes, adding Brown to this team puts this roster a top 6 roster in the west IMO.

If that’s what Brown fetched, Dumars will never get three firsts for Murphy

I hear you but idk man. From one of the worst in the league to top 6 in the loaded West...and we lose our ability to get better though the draft. Which is our only real option becase this FO isnt paying for elite talent in FA. We see that already.
