Coach
Players.... We will never see the luxury tax
Facilities
A new logo and jerseys
And a arena..

As long as they aim for the play in or 8th seed instead of thinking about championship ,they think this is fine with the fan base

Accurate shite from a well informed fan base looking for answers as to why we are seemingly stuck in the 20 something win club.

Truth is...

The penalty for the luxury tax isn't steep enough. If there's going to be a tax, make the bite for violating it deeper and more painful. The luxury tax is nothing to big market teams who can make up the difference in local media contracts and sales. Let team's lose future draft picks, lower a violating team's luxury tax threshold (on a sliding scale based on years of violation), take roster positions away, take coaching positions away, adjust shared TV revenue, and raise the tax.

If you want to even the playing field, you have to stiffen the penalties otherwise big market teams will always have decided advantage and the back-office rules of the game will continue to be rigged in favor of 'Big Brother'.

Just Sayin'

They just changed it a few years ago to significantly increase the financial penalties for multiple years in the luxury tax and limit the types of transactions you can do if you’re above the 2 aprons. You’ve seen teams shed salary since they implemented this.

Right!!!

My point is that $$$ aren't an impediment to Big Market Teams as they can make the tax up on local media contracts, marketing opportunities, and operational sales. In order to make the punishment 'real' and equitable, you have to affect the on-court product otherwise Big Market Teams will continue to have a decided advantage. Fines, alone, are not an impediment.

That is not true at all. The tax is compounding. Sure, plenty of teams pay it one year. Some even do it twice. But more than that is so expensive that rarely do teams ever do it.

Also, the luxury tax is only in place to re-sign your own players. You can’t go over it to sign a free agent. It’s a buffer to allow teams to not have to get rid of guys because of the cap.

Yeah…read the rest of my post and see the link. Severely limits types of transactions you can make if you’re over the aprons.

Over the last 20 season, twelve teams in the East and twelve teams in the West made the conference finals. We are one of the six who has not, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the other five - Wizards, Nets, Hornets, Clippers, and Kings.

Is it too much to ask to make the conference finals one time over the next 20 seasons? I don’t think so.

-40,000 posts never started a thread
-Can’t debate, only responds with insults
-Will Wade will never come back

Those 3 points show much of an idiot you are. You bring nothing to the board but your 86 IQ.

I cant blame Gayle for watching a team consistently disappoint and not want to pay the tax to get a couple higher places in the standings. Even when we look like we could be competitive, lard arse manages to miss half the season and we go into the trade deadline in limbo as to his availability.

She doesn't have Balmer cash and our media deal is based on being broadcast on over-the-air antennas... Why flush millions down the toilet?

Also, tax is set up to penalize repeaters, so you need to carefully pick your window, to take your shot when you have a legit chance to make a run. Not sure we have been one player away in the Zion era.

Why don't you spend more on the team? Bring in additional revenue so that they can spend more.

I don't fault Benson for being thrifty or budget conscience. The team is capped by its current structure. It's great they can make 300M a year, but that's still really low and it's just not competitive with bigger market teams. The team shouldn't have to operate at a loss.

That's why I want a new ownership group with a vision. Someone that will see the possibilities and partner with local interests to build something sustainable. We need to flip everything on its head and do something bold. That's never going to happen with the current regime..

They also appear to be banking (at least in part) on the expansion $$$ to help fund the arena renovations, but I’m not sure how likely expansion actually is

She should sell. ASAP.

It’s not too much to ask, but it’s not happening until we get rid of the owner and move the team so we can pay luxury taxes and build the roster.
