If he pays him at or near max for 4 years with the way he's played so far with AD/Boogie, there's going to be a lot of fans who won't be very happy about it. But at the same time if you let him walk and don't get anything in return, I assume there will be a good number of people upset as well.

If Jrue can't play with AD and D.C. Then what the shite can he play with

1/5
2/7
2/8

Those are the shooting numbers for Hill, Thompson and Moore last night. They are bench players being asked to start. If Demps can find a way to upgrade the other 2 starters the team will be fine and people won't care what we're paying Holiday.

To me, he is our DeAndre Jordan. Is he worth a max in a vacuum? No. But you aren't getting anything better and you won't have real cap room, even if you let him walk

If we sign him, it doesn't improve our team, but will he still have a market?

I imagine there are still 10 teams willing to take him, he's good but we need someone with better basketball iq

We need shooters around him. He can facilitate just fine, but he's playing with two stars and two absolute shite players. Guess who the 5 defenders key on...

Cunningham: 40.0 3pt% (2.9 attempts)
Moore: 39.9 3pt% (2.9 attempts)
Galloway: 37.7 3pt% (4.9 attempts)
Hield: 36.9 3pt% (4.2 attempts)
Hill: 34.2 3pt% (3.1 attempts)

2 of our best 3pt shooters gone will do that to you

Your post is not really in English, but I think I know what you are trying to say. What you might not understand is there really isn't any "money saved". They won't have significant cap room if they let him walk, not only this year, but in any future years. It's not like if they don't pay him $25 mil that they will have 25 mil in cap room in his place.

This is why I am saying it is similar to DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers. If they would have lost him to Dallas, it's not like they would have all of a sudden had a bunch of cap room to add players. So, they "overpaid" him, but the alternative was to let him walk and then only have a 3 million dollar room exception to replace him.

I agree on the Jordan comp.

Do think they should think long and hard about how Holiday plays w/ Cousins+Davis and what they want around those 2. I think it is the likely best move they can make, but it shouldn't necessarily be an auto max to Holiday IMO

Just a stupid trade, he would have been better off continuing to try acquiring Jahil Okafor. Cousins is not meshing well with Davis at all right now, but I don't have much respect for Dell Demps who loves giving away first round picks, and he gave them a second this time too as a bonus gift, gee thanks Dell. But I don't understand why he also had to give up 3 good players along with the picks?? lol I mean he could have packaged off other players, but at least keep Evans and Galloway. He should have given up Frazier and Ajinca along with Buddy or got Rudy Gay along with Cousins if they just wanted Hield, Galloway, and Evans.

but most importantly he could have played the first round pick like Dallas did with Philly, if they make the playoffs Philly gets the pick, if they don't make the playoffs, no first round pick, but you would have to be smart to do that and Dell Demps ain't that.

I think you don't understand how trades work. You can't make another team take nothing but shite and you get something really great.

You have to give them a little something to, ya know, entice them to want to do it.

It reminds me a lot of the Eric Gordon contract. He wasn't worth what Phoenix offered, but we couldn't let him walk either. I think a trio of AD, DC and JJ can work. We need to Luck up and hope a guy like Jawun Evans, Josh Hart or Semi Ojeleye falls to us in the draft and pans out as a good shooter and we get a coach who can get players to play together.

Otherwise, no. It won't work and we have a bunch of Farari and Lotus parts that don't fit together.

We aren't drafting in this draft regardless if we have a pick or not. Maybe our second rounder for cheap depth or to see what he has in summer league but even that, to me, is a stretch.

And to the guy who said that Boogie and AD aren't meshing...do you watch basketball? They have the two highest PERs in the league since the break. Sure the Ws aren't there but it's NOT about that right now. It doesn't help that they have below average NBA talent surrounding them right now outside Jrue and arguably Cunningham.

There has been improvement every game. When this team gets shooters and a full offseason they'll be incredibly exciting to watch.

Well, here is part three and it includes all the options and possible paths if Jrue leaves. No more just saying, "I don't want to give Jrue the max!" Now, you have to say that AND tell us the path to building a great roster once you let him walk. Here is your ammo

these options are ridiculous and completely unrealistic.
