Detroit isn't going to swap Burks for Devonte for 2nds. The problem with Devonte is you need to find a team that could actually use him or you'll have to pay more than a 2nd to send him out.

Exactly, if not you are conceding to a building year. If that's the case you likely stand pat, see how you fare in the post-season, and make moves in the off-season. If you believe that you can contend this year, you absolutely need to make a move to strengthen your team. I'd contend you lose a series right now, regardless if BI and Zion are healthy, to most teams that have personnel to exploit pick and roll action.

Which is why Jonas needs to be the very next upgrade after we get more shooting

Yup let’s get rid of the one guy in the lineup that doesn’t miss games. Brilliant.

OG is under contract for next season also. If he doesn’t take a 20-25 million dollar extension, then you can trade him at next years deadline for a couple 1sts and another player on a longer term deal to recoup assets.

You also can't upgrade Jonas because an actual upgrade to a center in a higher talent tier has you going from $15 million a year to $30+ million a year. You're going to have to either draft JV's replacement, which is what Hayes was supposed to be, or you're going to have to add another center to the committee that has his limitations but can defend and rebound.

We also overreact a bit too much. Last night's Jval game was bad, no doubt.

The 5 games before that he was averaging 24ppg on 29 minutes and 71% shooting and had a positive +/-

Maybe splitting hairs, but I’m extremely skeptical that Turner gets $30+. Centers are always over valued by fans as compared to teams and contracts. That being said, might be $25 and I’m also extremely skeptical on what type of upgrade he really is to Jonas.

More expensive. Helps with 1 hole, creates a huge hole in a spot where we're strong now(rebounding)

It’s definitely his rebounding, then health, then contract, and then shooting even that would concern me. People say he spaces the floor, but no one is covering him at the three point line. Especially with Zion on the roster. And we take for granted simply having Jonas play nearly every single game as compared to a center missing half the season. It’s a tough deal.

We need to get Gafford.

Gafford doesn't solve rebounding. JV is an upper echelon rebounder. Those types are hard to replace.

Are you ditching Jval or Nance?

We won't have a 3rd big on such a high salary that Gafford has, so if we get him, he's going to be 1 of our top 2 bigs, and thus someone has to go.

I’m only trading Bi for a mega superstar if it’s ever comes to that. We don’t need more picks and young guys. It would be for guys like Luka, Durant. That caliber of player

That's the problem with all these trades. You solve one problem and create another.

Trade Jose - lose your spark off the bench.
Trade Dyson - lose your future PG
Trade Naji - lose the only dude not made of glass that actually drives
Trade Herb - your D gets even worse
Trade Trey - Now you have zero shooters
Trade Val - you can't rebound
Trade Nance - you have no small ball 5
Trade Graham, Temple & Jax - fricking celebrate

I’m thinking someone on the same level that’s available more.

Say OKC offers you Shai for BI (they flip BI to someone else for other pieces), you turning that down?

I would have to think long and hard about accepting that.

A new report says Toronto would take 2 young promising players and a pick for OG.

I would do Hayes and Herb with 2 picks for him. You don’t lose defense because OG and Herb are on the same level, and you improve shooting.

I was overestimating what it would take in my previous scenarios

Why put BI and Zion as starters?
That couple played together less than 25% of the games over the last 4 years.
Neither are reliable for more than half a season (IF you get lucky) and how can you count on them when you build a long-term roster?

If they take that you run to the phone and never look back.

Yea that's not realistic. Herb is a now player. I don't think Herb is on their timeline if they end up blowing it up. You're likely going to be forced to include one of Dyson or Trey.

I’m with you I’d have to think about it. Just depends on me knowing where BI’s head is at. Would not be upset if Griff accepted that trade
