You never know, Toronto values defensive guys, so it’s hard to say how much value they would place on Herb.

I would attempt to keep Trey and Dyson out of that deal though, if I had to include one of them then I don’t give up the second pick

OG is under contract for next season also. If he doesn’t take a 20-25 million dollar extension, then you can trade him at next years deadline for a couple 1sts and another player on a longer term deal to recoup assets.

So, you give up 2-3 1sts and a good young player on a controlled contract with the possibility that you have to shop him next offseason? Pass. Unless they have an understanding of what an extension looks like and they are comfortable with that, I would not invest that much in a supporting player.

OG is not worth two firsts.

He's a pretty good player. If he was so great, Toronto wouldn't be bad.

Trading multiple firsts for non-stars like Gobert is a losing formula.

I'm really not that interested going all in on a trade right now. After that Gobert trade the market is broken with teams asking for to much. Plus with the injury history of Zion and BI we are going to have to keep refreshing with cheap young talent from the draft to stay afloat when they miss stretches during the season. Can you imagine how screwed we be if we didn't have Dyson on this year team.

Unfortunately, Griff reset the trade market, and players are going for more than they used to.

You have to pay the price teams ask for players that upgrade your roster and are a perfect fit. OG immediately makes us the favorites in the west, that’s worth 2-3 1sts all day long, especially when we can give that up and still have a pick in every single season left

You seem to be terribly overvaluing OG. He is not the type of player that makes a team the favorite. It is not like he has had scrubs around him in Toronto.

The people that like him think he's Herb on defense, or close enough, with decent offense. Surely you can see the appeal of that, a Herb that won't get played off the court in the playoffs. I also don't think you can dismiss that he had 2 seasons of 39% from 3. He'd get plenty of open looks here to get back to that level.

Cost is the main issue with going after OG, both the acquisition cost and his salary long term.

I'm still not sure what the team is trading for though. Do we want to compliment the core (even though it's never healthy?), in which case someone like OG is a good fit, or do you want to supplement that core for when guys are out, in which case Bogdonavic is probably a better fit.

OG does you a lot less good in a stretch like right now than Bogdonavic. But if the team is healthy does Bogdonavic help by giving you too much firepower to defend, or is he redundant and keeps you from having enough defenders on the floor? It's not an easy question to answer because I can see the argument for overwhelming fire power.

He's pretty damn good.

He's just:

Going to cost too much trade wise
Cost too much financially
And isn't the skillset we need.

We need:

Bomber from 3
Versatile rim protecting 5

OG cant do much off the dribble and it cant be ignored that he's pretty injury prone himself. He played 48 & 43 games the last 2 years. Combine that with the acquisition cost and the fact that idk how the frick we afford his next contract and i think im out on trading for him. Id rather go for bogey, or GTJ

Nick Nurse must be one shitty coach.

He's got superstars like OG, Siakam and dudes that can score like Trent and FVV and Barnes who they refuse to trade.

Neither are superstars, but they are really good players that would on the right teams would be extremely useful.

I was being sarcastic. Trading 3 firsts for a dude like OG is insanity.

Again, if these dudes were so good, Toronto wouldn't suck.

Thats what i dont get about the raptors. Everyone says nurse is such a good coach. Siakam, OG, FVV, Trent, Barnes are sooo good and so valuable and they all play such awesome defense yet they suck and OG's "DPOY" level defense has them 15th in DRTG. Its not adding up. I suspect these guys arent as good as everyone thinks, otherwise they wouldnt be about to blow the whole thing up

When your big man rotation consists of Hernangomez, Koloko, Boucher, Birch, Achiuwa, and an over the hill Thaddeus Young, you're going to get exposed.

Achiuwa is their best frontcourt guy and he's been out half their games.

They basically playing 3 forwards and 2 guards in their starting lineup. Barnes is a up and coming player but he isn't a center.

They want Jonas back? Then we have a new hole though.
