Would be nice if the guards weren’t dying on the screens and maybe if our backside did anything…

For sure guards need to defend better, but defense is compromised right off the initial pick. Val is in no man’s land and sorry Graham and Jose as a tandem are too small. Those are practice jumpers opponents are getting, No deterrences.

100%…an upgraded roster is still an upgraded roster…particularly if it’s done with good contracts

Pels need a good backup 4 and shooting…add it doesn’t hurt regardless

They’ll all be melt threads tonight. Look at our road record, which includes a lot of Zion wins, and then look at the schedule. The next few weeks will be brutal unless BI gets his arse back on the court.
People can melt, but there is a reason we haven't moved out of the 3 seed.

Nobody behind us, but Sac, is playing worth shite. And none of those teams are missing their two best players.

I said after Zion went down that staying out of the play in is my goal for the team. Thats still where im at.

Nance is less than 100% and Hayes should have been the first player off the bench tonight. He is not that much of a liability where he should not have gotten 20-25 minutes on a night with Zion out, Nance injured, and Val getting abused. Also the Jose/Graham tandem needs to stop, give those minutes to Dyson, particularity with Herb not available. I'm sure Coach Green has the pulse of the team but it is obvious that the team's rotation is not beneficial either short or long term.

Trey is still shooting over 40% from 3 this year. He hasn't been open much the past few games and he has missed some wide open shots.

You never sell low. Shooters slump.

That is beyond sad.
Package them both for Luka, our swap this year and our 1st next year. Keep the Lakers pick.
Think Cuban would do it?

The fact that Brandon Ingram can’t get over a purely mental thing at this point to help his team win angers me.

JfC. you've lost it.

its a toe joint.
tell us how you know its not a toe joint but really a figment of his imagination.

i concede that its possible.
its more likely you are the one inventing about him.

We’re a quality team despite our injuries and all our flaws. Still… there’s literally no one on this team who’s beyond trading anymore if I’m GM…. I wouldn’t have said this few months ago …

Zion, Ingram , CJ, Jonas, Herb, Trey, Jose, Jax, etc

My point is why base decisions on fit around zion and BI when they never fricking play.
So what's your solution?

The data shows we should be making decisions as if they weren’t playing
Is your assertion then to trade CJ, Nance, and Jval for expirings and draft picks?

That's fine, but that's conceding a wasted year in our title window.

If you want to win a title, you need to be a top 3 seed, that' just how it's gone for all of the history of the NBA save for 1 season.

These 2 injuries simultaneously have the potential to derail our season, even if we do get a 5 or 6 seed.

How did you come up with that? I think they should go get someone who can play the 4 like john collins who is being shopped for cheap. He can be our starting 4 for the 57 games zion misses every year.

Zion is absolutely off the table, and I would have CJ, Naji, Nance, Val, Jose and Dyson off the table as well.

I absolutely would start shopping BI just to gauge what offers would come, not saying I would trade him, but I would see what teams think he’s worth.

Well, you said we should make our decisions assuming Zion/Bi are not playing.

If we do that, we should not be focusing on winning but instead, getting off of large contracts for vets and looking to the future. That would be the best course of action if you wanted to make decisions assuming there was no BI/Zion.

So pay $25 mil which is wayyyy overvalue for a player is what we should do when you make decisions assuming no Bi/ZIon and thus not competing for anything of note? I would argue the complete opposite, that should be the legit last thing you want to do.

Bringing in Collins and not trading CJ, are you then looking to trade Herb/Trey? Because we won't be able to resign both of them if you bring in Collins.

Then maybe we should do that because clearly Zion and BI have shown they cant stay healthy. Zion is already a guy that probably wont last into his mid 30s. These are supposed to be the years to maximize off of. Its year 4 of this with no signs of improvement, when is enough?

You’re right. Zion and Dyson are pretty much off the table. I want to keep CJ too, but I don’t think anyone else is above being potentially traded.

Here is my ideal trade. Pelicans Stay under the Tax this year so dont use that to knock it.

Pistons Get: (Buying 2nd Round Picks essentially)
Garrett Temple
Devonte Graham
2024 Bulls 2nd Round Pick (From Pelicans)
2024 Pelicans 2nd Round Pick

Raptors Get:
Jaxon Hayes
Kira Lewis
2024 Lakers Pick (or defer to 2025)
2025 Pelicans First Round Pick
2027 Pelicans First Round Pick
I know Jaxson and Kira aren't exactly proven young studs, but they have still have potential. 3 First round picks is plenty enough return for OG in my opionion.

Pelicans Get:
Alec Burks (Shooting 45% from 3 on 4.5 attempts a game)
OG Anunoby (Takes Herbs starting Spot)
Juancho Hernangomez (Helps fill salary and makes Billy happy)
While the Pelicans are trading away 3 first round picks.. They keep the Lakers 2023 pick and still maintain at least 1 first round pick every year moving forward.

CJ / Jose / Dyson
BI / Herb / Burks
OG / Trey / Naji
Zion / Nance / Juancho
Jonas / Willy

Do people think OG is some superstar? He is not worth 3 first rounders (the most valuable of which may be that 24/25 Lakers pick) and a near max contract upon extension. He is not a star player but more of a supporting player. His contract extension would require us to get rid of someone like CJ to make it work.
