They were very competitive with a team that is arguably better than any team in NBA history while missing their best player that always goes off vs. Golden State and you think last night was some kind of demonstration of failed coaching?

Despite losing 3 of the last 4 with partial to no AD, I'm pretty encouraged by what I've seen the last week. If the role players can manage to keep this level of activity going when AD comes back then they'll be a good team. But by all means lets start firing people because they didn't beat the freaking Warriors last night

Blown leads every night is the #1 thing I look for when I think of a coach with great leadership and situational awareness

He doesn't coach, literally just sits there looking clueless. Lot of talent on this team and we'll be .500

Does Gentry get credit for the multiple 20 pt. comebacks we’ve had this season?

I'm convinced Gentry is part of the secret plan to ditch our stars and move the team to Seattle.

There's no other explanation.

No we did not. LAst game with AD, we were tied at half. Game before that, we had a 3 pt lead at half. It is the Warriors, one of the best offenses of all time who can also lock down when they want. The 76'ers had them by 22 at half after scoring 74 in the 1st half...they lost by 8.

Jrue has had some great games lately. Hopefully this is a sign of him just settling into his new role at the 2 and not just a temporary hot streak.

Boogie looks great when he’s not hucking up too many 3s and throwing bad passes, and with AD out it seems like he’s buckled down and tightened up his game.

Dante has even looked MUCH better at the 4 than he did forced into the 3 position. And if we had a healthy Solo back we’re as good as anyone but Houston and Golden State.

E’twaun has shown recently how good he can be.

Darius has been a sweet surprise.

And even my boy Asik has looked valuable in his limited role as a rebounding machine.

If these guys can all play at this level while Rondo continues being Rondo and AD is AD (minus the injuries), we’re definitely at least a 5 seed-level team.

Making all of the above players play like that consistently is on Gentry. I haven’t lost hope.

ETA: Even with AD out, if Darius is Darius last night we win. It’s not that he was 2 for 6 and I’m saying that if he hit 3 for 6 we win - it’s that he started out cold at it affected his confidence. Darius has been phenomenal lately on QUICK catch and shoots - much like Klay shoots. After he missed the first few last night, there were SO many times he caught the ball and started to go up with it and backed off. Several of those he would normally have put up. If he was putting those up with confidence and hitting at his normal rate, we put that game away.

Can we stop these fire Gentry/Demps threads after EVERY loss? This is getting old. This is a slightly better than .500 ball club. Newsflash! They will lose more games this year.

What type of loss are you willing to accept?

Blowout loss to a good team - Fire the coach
Blowout loss to a bad team - Fire the coach
Close loss to a good team - Fire the coach
Close loss to a bad team - Fire the coach
Lose to a good team when your best player is out - Fire the coach

If losing a big lead to GSW is an obvious firable offense, then there would be 29 coaches fired every year for the last 3 years.

Really these threads are out of hand after every loss. This board is dead on nights the team looks good, and then when we lose; it blows up; so tiresome.

I'm not saying Gentry should be coach next season, but there hasn't been anything even close to warranting firing the whole FO and blowing the team up which has occurred this year. This isn't football, losses aren't the end of the year; please stop.

Win a close game - Not a peep
Win a blowout - Not a peep

This has been a very weird season to date. We've blown quite a few double digit leads. We've also come back from quite a few double digit holes. Last night it seemed the Warriors made adjustments in the 2nd half, and Gentry was outcoached. It seems we remember the lack of adjustments more than coming out and blitzing a team like the Spurs. If we're going to judge Gentry, you have to take the full season into consideration.

We've been competitive in almost every game this season. The only two that stick out are the losses to Minnesota (AD ejection) and @Denver. We've had some get away from us late, but held leads in a chunk of those games.

I'm not defending Gentry. I don't think he's worth all that much, but he's surrounded himself with capable assistants that make this less of a chaotic mess. There are A-tier coaches out there, and it would have been nice to see the Pels try to find a diamond in the rough instead of going the retread route. But there are a ton of B-C level coaches out there that aren't moving the needle much. Gentry is probably in the bottom half of that tier, but it's not like moving up into the middle or top half of average would really improve this team all that much.

Against non-Golden State teams, we’re still 3 games over .500.

i think you can argue he was outcoached. but i also dont know what moves he could have tried that would have made much of a difference.

GS seems to go about half speed for the first half, then turn it on in the 3rd quarter. for example, the Warriors have a +27 Net Rating in the 3rd quarter on the season. looks like everyone gets run out of the gym by them in that period.

The GSW has been playing like this all year. They are on cruise control until they need to step it up. They are holding back until it counts. They'll hover around seeds 1-3 until the all star break and will ramp it up. They are toying with their opponents right now. People who think GSW is coming down to earth is in for a rude awaking when they decide to turn it up for all 4 quarters.

Agreed, GS makes it a habit of coming back from 20+ points to win the game. It's like they are purposely toying with the entire league. They are just that good
