of course he is

klay thompson will turn 31 next season. here is his contract:

age 31 35,361,000
age 32 37,980,000
age 33 40,600,000
age 34 43,219,000

at this point he is a spot up jumpshooter with no handle, no passing and a bad knee. and i love the guy, but that might be the worst contract in the league

IDK. John Wall’s contract is real bad too. I think allay will come back alright.

Pels - Chris Paul, Wayne Ellington, #2, #8, Minnesota 2021, GSW future 1st
Thunder - Wiggins, Darius Miller, #13
Knicks - Lonzo Ball

He was a spot up jumpshooter before. Do you not remember the 60 pts on 11 dribbles?

It saves them money after being a tax team for so long and #13 is probably the best asset they'll get offered for Chris Paul. I could see having to give them the #8 instead of #13. If they aren't going to resign Gallinari to a big deal and try to run it back, they need to blow it up.

This really is the key. But I’d suggest that, instead of saying it’s a negative now, we need to decide if it will be a negative come 2023 whenever it’s 33m. Do we think the Pels can rehab Wiggins enough that it becomes at least a net neutral the year before he expires so that his contract can be used to match salaries in a trade for a star without hurting us? Do we think we can use that cap space for a better purpose of taking on other assets or salary dumps? Do we think that Jrue will sign an extension + will Jrue keep his value at that new extension number? Idk the answers to those questions without giving it a lot more thought, but that to me seems to be the crux of the problem.

Well said.

They'll definitely insist on 8 instead of 13 at least.

considering that’s a time where I feel we should be making deep playoff runs, I think yes it’ll be a negative then.

It’s probably a couple years short of when we can realistically make a deep playoff run.

It’s unlikely that another superstar will become available before Wiggins’ final year and the West is loaded between now and then anyways.

Let’s go way out there, who says no:

Warriors - Jrue
Thunder - Wiggins, Miller, #8, ATL 2020 2nd
Knicks - Lonzo
76ers - Looney, Ellington, JJ
Pels - Chris Paul, Al Horford, #2, #13, Minnesota 2021, OKC 2020 (via 76ers).

We’d have to do this before the Ingram extension and use his 9m cap hold to fit it all in. Destroy our cap for years and get into the tax, but screw it. If we want to go crazy, let’s go crazy

Golden state is going for embiid.
Well, they'll need a backup plan when those talks quickly fall through.

Outside of Klay and Steph, what would GS possibly have to offer that would be enough to get Embiid?

Ingram's cap hold is 20 million, i dont know why Spotrac has never updated it..

But if we're going way out there

GSW: Jrue, #13

Mag: Wiggins, Randle, #2

NYK: Ball

Pels: Issac, Gordon, 23 Magic 1st, 21 Minny 1st, 21 NYK 1st, 25 Warrior 1st

Oh he was terrible in PHI, and if we are going to be in cap he’ll taking on Paul anyway. We’d also have to sacrifice multiple first borns to the basketball gods to keep Paul and Horford healthy, but we were reportedly very interested in Horford this last offseason. He’s also a pretty good fit next to Zion and can anchor a D.

(Btw, my original trade proposal was a little tongue in cheek. Just a thought exercise as I imagine ATL’s is too)

We were, until Philly gave him 4 years..

Griff will want to keep as clean a cap sheet as possible the year before Zion gets his extension, a 4 year Horford deal ruins that
