Dandaman incoming to rerank his top worst contracts on the team.

In all seriousness, I like this deal for us. Hopefully Herbert is healthy this season. I'd love for him to be a Pel for a very long time.

He should’ve held out for $69M

I’m not an Herb hater, go pull the thread from when he was drafted. Said he was a good pick and said he was comparable to a Ben Simmons lite.

Just b/c I was dead on about DD and you were wrong has nothing to do with Herb. I still maintain they both should have been starting. And pulled up stats that back that up.

My assessment is it’s a solid market value deal, Herb likes playing here and he’s the model glue guy on a team. No problem with it.

That’s alot of money for a player the overwhelming majority of the board said sucks and would never be a starter in the league…….

So you laughing about how clueless you are at your player evaluations? If he gets paid anywhere close to that, you were way, way off the mark….

Second team friendly contract he's signed. Easy guy to root for.

Seeing some of the contracts being thrown around I feel like that’s still a good value for Herb.

That's phenomenal value for Herb.

Think I would wait another 6 months or so...before celebrating Herb extending with Pelicans. Just sounds too good to be true...doesn't it?

(Edit)...but of the 2 probable outcomes...seems to me the Pelicans will come out very well...once the dust settles.

Herb is injure prone.
The only issue with him.

He averaged 73 games a year prior to last season's fluke of a year.

No he isn't. He has one injury that happened during a hustle play.

B/c he hurt his shoulder diving for a ball? and then sat out most of the year b/c it was pointless to play in that waste of a year last year?
Tell us all the injuries he had the 3 previous years?

Now hopefully we won't see stupid ideas of trading Herb all over this board.

I think everyone needs to internalize that Herb will leave as a free agent. We can’t offer him more money than others and someone will pay him. He doesn’t fit the timeline either. So getting anything for him would be awesome.

Can we all just take a second to laugh at higgsBoson?

Had nothing to do with Herb... With Herb's new deal he has one of the best contracts in the NBA if he comes back healthy and playing his game. Herb always mattered.

The other guy doesn't. That's why we now have our (8) core guys locked up for 3+ years. Karlo and Poole are going to get extensions before that other guy. You can save this for the laugh if I'm wrong.

No matter how long Herb ends up staying in NO...this extension was a fantastic move by the Pelicans & will probably benefit them greatly...one way or the other.

Herb's "trade value"...whatever you think it was before the extension...has taken a huge leap. It wouldn't be crazy to assume it has pretty much doubled. Such a team-friendly contract for a player like Herb !!

Of course...assuming the extension was signed on 7/10/25, that would mean Herb would not be eligible to be traded until 6 months later...at least, that's what I've been told. By the way, the trade deadline for next season is 2/6/26...do the math.

Who knows...maybe just a coincidence...guess we''ll find out in 6 months or so.

Well, at least for a little while. The extension means that he's ineligible to be traded this season. So, maybe people will talk about again next July, but not until then.

I'm assuming our inability to trade him led to the extension
