As long as they get the players they covet in the draft, does it really matter?
Posted on 6/20/19 at 5:19 pm to jrhettb
We have tons of seconds so that's fine
Posted on 6/20/19 at 5:19 pm to hendersonshands
it's terrible value
Posted on 6/20/19 at 5:19 pm to SlowFlowPro
We have no idea what the value is yet. Let it play out for more than 5 minutes

Where are y’all seeing that the Cleveland pick turns into two seconds if it lands in lottery

Man am I the only one that is happy with this?
Moved back only 4 spots, get an extra 13 mill in cap that can be used on a player that isn’t a corpse, gain a 1st, a future protected pick and an early 2nd that you can package.
Malika Andrews mentioned Vucevic as a possible free agent target for us. We could get him now, if we want him, and still have space left.

Let's also not forget that the Pels can essentially "sell" second round picks for cash + a distant second round pick. Cash strapped teams need deals like this to cheaply round out rosters and we have the pieces.

This is a 3 player draft, let’s get real. 4-40 are all interchangeable. This is the year to buy up some early second rounders. RJ May be an all star but it falls off big after Ja, but I think garland is going to be a perennial all star.

Idk maybe the market for the #4 spot wasn’t as great as advertised and if we didn’t love garland that much, I guess it makes sense
Not too excited about the cap space until I see guys actually show interest in being here

Hoping the Wiz actually buy up some seconds and trade back from 9.

We are giving a second next year too
Jeff Siegel:
That future second-round pick could be a LOT of different picks for ATL. NOP has a million future seconds:
NOP 2020
MIL 2020
WAS 2020
lesser of CHI/NOP 2021
WAS 2021
NOP 2022-2025

“What they really want to see is a veteran big man put on the table,” Andrews said on ESPN’s Get Up. “That’s what they’re interested in. They need a veteran big to stretch the floor for Zion so he’s not playing on the inside all the time.”
That amount of cap space cleared, Kevin Love might still be in play.

Silva just said on NBA TV that no trade is binding right now, so teams could theoretically back out. I’m sure if a team backed out, no team would ever deal with them. But the more deals we make right now, more risk something happens. If we make 4 trades affecting this draft, what would be the fallout of someone reneged.

So a 2021 2nd round pick. How many All Stars are we drafting in Round 2 for the next 5 years?
