We're 7-3 in our last 10 with some really impressive wins, in the absolute thick of a top 4 seed against a very tough January schedule, yet last night's loss meant:

"We're a 42-40 team"
"Zion and Ingram will never work"
"This team just won't do anything"

The west is wildly tough this year, the 8 seed is pacing for 46 wins, CJ and Trey have been hurt for stretches, and yet here we are as a board: as soon as we get blown out, or lose a game, it's over.

Even though we're 6-4 in the toughest month of the year, when again, a lot of you guys would have been ok with .500.

There are two absolute truths to this team:
-they are flawed
-They have incredible potential

So, once again, I am asking all of you to allow the season to run its course before making brash declarations that this team as constructed won't work.

The next 5 games are absolutely massive and brutal. And if we go 3-2 with a loss to the Rockets yall will probably still be losing your shite, even though 3-2 against that stretch would be incredible.

They way the Pelicans have played up to this point should give you enough good will to allow this shite to play out before deciding yep it ain't it. That's all I'm trying to say.

I don’t think we’re a bad team at all. But I think our ceiling with Zion and BI is the 2nd round. They just don’t measure up to other team’s stars in big moments. That will get magnified in the playoffs.

And if that happens then ok and we can rebuild for next year, but don't you think they deserve the opportunity to prove you wrong before saying it's an absolute?

Zion and Ingram have never played in a playoff series, which is a far different animal than reg season games. They may fail, or they may thrive after adjusting to their competition.

Not to say that's what you mean by your statements, I'm just seeing so much finality in people's posts it's crazy considering how good we've been this year.

Since Nov 25th we've only lost two games in a row twice. TWICE

The Pels are like an NFL team with a stacked roster and an ok QB.

Good enough to win in the regular season but not going anywhere in the playoffs.

In the NFL you need a franchise QB to win it all. In the NBA you need a bonafide top 5-10 player.

Just like you can't win with an average QB like Carr, you can't win if you're best player(s) are top 30 and not top 10.

And it doesn't matter if we have three top 30 guys. One top 10 is worth 5 top 30.

It’s not the record, it’s the fact that this team comes out flat as frick every 3rd to 4th game just as they’re building momentum. We need to rattle off a 10-15 game win streak, but that will never happen with Ingram as inconsistent as he is, and just the all around flatness we show as soon as we build up.

True, but every recent big game they've been in they've failed this season.

The IST abortion. Clippers, Nuggets, Suns.

And none of those were close.

Not to mention the Grizzlies X 2.

Yeah, we can beat the shite out of the Kings and a crappy Warriors team. But when we've faced good teams recently, they've kicked the shite out of us.

Well, BI has played in a playoff series -- against Phoenix. Maybe you meant the two of them in a series together. But this is also why CJ is so valuable to this team, as he was in the WCF five years ago and can help the others mentally prepare.

It's not just about last night.

It's that we are getting skullfricked lately by all the teams with rosters that are built to make deep playoff runs.

...so blind faith with no data to really support that they would thrive in a playoff setting.

They’ve had 5 years to prove us wrong. They’re either constantly hurt/injured or can’t work together. Zion’s on his second contract. BI is due for his third large contract. We’re meanwhile waiting here just waiting for them to go through a regular season/playoffs healthy together. I’m sorry but after 5 years they need to put up or shutup. They honestly don’t deserve anything when you see much younger stars like Shai, and Ant taking over the West.

The 3 point shot just wasn’t falling last night. 3 for 20 at one point, I think? The looks were there, open shots, the right guys were shooting, shots were on line, just hitting the back iron or bouncing in and out.

Borrego said it at halftime, this is our identity. If CJ, Trey, Hawkins, BI, are all shooting sub-30% from deep in a game we are probably going to lose. We shot 23.8% from 3 on 42 attempts. Zion had our first made 3. When that happens, the defense will start to sag off the shooters and wall Zion off at the free throw line. The fact that he got 24 points on 11/17 is a pretty good testament of how good he is getting to the rim in traffic. He missed some bunnies too.

We won’t shoot 23% every game in a series against the Suns. If we bump up our 3 point shooting this game to our season average of 38%, it’s a completely different game. It sucks but some games are like this.

So the quarter final game at Sac in the IST where they dominated wasn’t a big game. The arse kicking they gave the current Western Conference #1 seed at their place wasn’t a big game? The Lakers game on NYE after the ISt humiliation wasn’t a big game? Some of these juvenile takes are just plain embarrassing.

I think we are a good team but not a championship contender. I love our core but we need something else to get us over that hump. The easiest way to solve that is for Zion to become an All-NBA guy and to change our offense to shoot less long 2s and more 3s.

We see sparks of this about once a week.

To be fair going back to the jazz game in late december we are 6-4 against west conf contenders/playoff teams. I think frustration of this board is that other than the wolves game we’ve only beaten playoff teams in the same range as us #5-10 (lakers, kings, mavs) while losing to teams like the suns, clippers and nuggets. I think specifically the frustration lies thst we’re probably anywhere from #5-10 playoff seed but we’re not good enough to be a top contender in the west. There are people on this board, including myself, who thought this team could be a west contender. Its the realization that the ceiling of this team is not as high as they thought it would be.

No one is saying we're a bad team and anyone who truly thinks that isn't watching. I'd just like to see this franchise once get past the second round... just for shits and gigs.

I don't think this team as presently constructed can do that.

I get it’s one game but man this team folds against really good teams or nationally televised games for the most part. It probably going to happen in the playoffs if something doesn’t change. It starts with leadership on the court

Nobody is more emotional than the Pels Talk after a loss. Always sky is falling.

There's 82 games in a season. We can't win every single game. It's gonna happen.

I hate when people keep saying this. Yes, we know but that doesn’t mean we can’t vent about the issues this team has. Its perfectly normal to vent about last night’s loss because we expect more out of this team and there’s nothing wrong with that.

5-8 is separated by 1 game. In any other year, these type of losses won't matter much but this ain't the year to drop these games especially on your home court.
