Is this just talk or does Griffin think this relationship really is repairable? I do believe Griffin and Clutch probably do have respect for one another.

He sounded pretty confident. He basically said I know what Klutch likes, they're going to like what I'm planning to build. Considering how their scheme to get AD to the Lakers fell apart and had a lot of fallout, throwing Demps under the bus and taking the money might be the easiest path forward for AD.

You can tell hes a very sharp guy. Everything he said was well calculated and was the right thing to say.

This all makes sense from Pelicans perspective, but makes zero sense for AD. He wants to be in big games and if he waits a single season, he gets to choose his destination and his teammates.

Where this gets super complicated is from the LeBron and Rich Paul perspective. LeBron clearly wants him in LA, but if he can't get to LA, then he ain't going to want AD on another contending team. From Rich Paul's POV, he can't only look out for LeBron's interest cause he'll risk losing AD. He also will want the cut from what will be one of the biggest contracts in NBA history.

Him taking the deal would be a case of him deciding to take the money offered to him because of the risks of hitting free agency.

Having a Supermax contract worth $155m+ beats ending up on a much smaller deal because he inevitably gets hurt.

Wilbon just said he'd bet money he's back and will re-sign. I doubt that.

I think with the right message the fans would forgive him. Just my $0.02.

I think there is a chance it happens but I’m not flying my arse to Vegas to put down an $85K bet it happens.

Highly doubt it. Maybe we should also hope that with Lebron's relationship with Griffin, he will force a trade to the Pelicans to play with Davis

I liked the part where he said "It’s not complicated. It’s not rocket surgery."

He's already a quote machine!

Given how fricked up the Laker front office is, how would Griffin even know who to negotiate with?

Pelinka? LeBron? Jeannie “frick Steve Ballmer!” Buss?

New hypothetical....

AD decides to stay and the Pelicans land the #1 pick. Do you?

A.) Draft Zion
B.) Trade down to #2 and draft Ja
C.) Trade it for All-Star caliber player and filler
D.) Other

ETA: Dumb question is dumb. Forgive me. Still drunk off the Griffin presser.

Not dumb at all.

If you can get morant and something nice extra, deal Zion.

Say you can dump hill on trading partner and get morant at 2 and you also get to trade just two of the 3 pels 2nd rounders for trading partners unprotected 2021 first.

Would have to know all star and his deal to evaluate that option.

Him signing an extension this offseason would be enough honestly.

Certainly between AD and this board.
If he actually re-signed and as Griffin said, is “all in”, things get interesting. If by dome miracle he does re-sign, I believe he’ll give a legitimate effort. He won’t want to look like an arse.

If he resigns he is all in.
Anything short of that and he has to be moved to the highest bidder this summer.

I agree. Most fans would accept his commitment in the form of years to the city as a buy in and people would forgive him.

Not dumb at all, it depends on who lands #2 and the pieces they have..

Hypothetically, say Phoenix lands #2 and wants to move up, have them take Hill and give us TJ Warren and #2.. I would do that deal in an instant, Ja would be a perfect pairing with Jrue and AD, I dont really think Zion would be without having the jumpshot yet
