Sorry about that Posters here like to claim that I'm trolling but I'm always willing to back up with say I here with a little money. It's easy to talk shite and run off at the mouth when there's no money involved once it's time to put up or shut up most will back down.

That doesn't make you any more knowledgeable or credible. It just means you have more money. I think everybody gets that you are a big Rockets fan. Doesn't mean you have to attack every perceived slight against them. Let some of them go..

It's prob been a week since I've posted here and the Rockets weren't the topic of this thread and they were never brought up.

That doesn't mean you have to come to PELICANS talk and every thread that talks good about the Pels badmouth them or troll.

You know you are trolling. We know you are trolling. Just cut the shite man. You've never, ever had an honest, non-baiting discussion on here.

Your thoughts are better suited for the MSB.

If the Pels were going BPA in the draft, they likely would've ended up with Noel and Payton, yes? The team had multiple holes, C and PG being two of them. Noel was the consensus #1 for awhile even while injured and Payton was long thought to be one of the most NBA ready players in the draft.

Does it really change if the two players are Trey Burke (+ Holiday's $$) and say, Doug McDermott?

dont really care for Simmons much either, but the draft day trade and Evans signing were two decisions that deserve to be questioned.

Simmons has a fair point. I understand why the team did the deals, but he's not wrong for being critical. Even Lowe says the Pellies will probably lose those deals. It's a fair question.

You can't control injury but this is a results business. Far from being decided, but the Pellies are 0-1 on this deal.

Lucky for us, Asik brings everything together

Asik is easily the best move Demps has made since signing Anderson. Would have loved to have done this deal last year when it was clear they were shopping him.

Would you trade Nerlens Noel, Elfrid Payton and a 2015 late lottery pick for Holiday and one year of Asik? Because that’s what New Orleans did. Yikes.

I think what people need to realize is that this has more to do with his LOVE for Payton than the trade itself. In his opinion, Payton has got ROTY on lock. So hes basically saying we traded the ROTY to pay another guy 10x as much. If thats true, then yeah, probably a bad trade. However, thats a huge leap.

What would that have cost last year? From everything I read, Houston was desperate to dump Lin and Asik. It's just strange that we give up a pick for Asik. But the Lakers were given picks to take Lin (and he is going to start for them, same as Asik for us). It makes the move look kind of questionable, even though I think Asik is a pretty good player (just really expensive)..

They were asking for a 1st the year before too and got no takers so they held on to him.

Not at the time we agreed to the deal. When we agreed to a pick I believe both Philly and Boston would have taken Asik for free and underbid us, so all Houston had to do is say "the price for you is still a 1st." It wasn't until Boston traded for Marcus Thornton that the market for cap space got tight for the Rockets, and considering how good of a fit Asik is, it would have been stupid to wait Houston out and hope everything fell just right to put the squeeze on them and get Asik cheaper. If the Pelicans can't move Gordon this might have been their only shot at Asik.

A 1st. Say they don't make the Holiday trade. They can send the 2015 1st to Houston last October when Anderson for Asik rumors were hot instead of waiting out the Stepien Rule.

No secret- I'm not as high on Holiday as most Pels fans. PG is one of the deepest positions in the league. It's easier to fill, especially with Gordon/Evans on board. 2 lottery picks for a 2nd tier, at best, PG is steep in my mind.

Would they really be in trouble if they drafted Burke, then grabbed one of Stauskas, McDermott, Saric, Gordon or Exum? Davis, Asik, Anderson is a premier frontcourt. This team is about them now anyway.

Is Monty still the coach? Jrue's return may be the most important addition to the defense in his mind, it's at least on par with getting Asik from what he's said.

That's where most of my disagreement on Holiday comes in. He is a very good defender. I just don't see PG defense as critical to team defense success and not worth the price they paid. Much rather have a sound scheme, competent bigs, and wing defenders than good PG defense.

Then again, I'm posting here so what do I know?

What do y'all expect from Holiday? All-star type player? Top 15ish pg?

Holiday is a B player across the board. Not really elite anywhere but no real weaknesses either. I'm not really expecting a specific level or production as much as I'm expecting him to play lock down defense, run the offense when Tyreke isn't, and be a good spot up shooter when Tyreke is running the offense.

I don't think he'll ever be considered a top 5 PG unless he's still around when they become contenders. Then he could become a top PG through system fit and IQ a la Tony Parker.

I'm in the minority but here goes:

I would like to see his USG come down. He's always been a mediocre offensive player and there are several better options on this team. Put him off ball/secondary ball handler and I like his game a lot more. His numbers may drop, but he needs to be more efficient on offense and focus on defense.

Monty needs to stagger Reke and Jrue's minutes so that one is always on the floor to run the offense. When both are on the floor, I'd like to see somewhere around a 60/40 split running the offense, with Reke getting most of the work.

If Asik leaves us, that'll make 4 teams in 4 years for him. I understand he has some cash, but who wants that? He's not exactly scrapping for an NBA contract. He will enjoy playing with Davis and our young supporting cast.

Well after this year he will have his one chance to earn that big payday. If he plays really well this year he could get a 10mil/year deal.

I don't think any logical Pels fan is expecting to pay him less than 10mil/year
