I think $8m per season for 3 years is a good contract for Dudley especially if that last year can be a player option

I'm not 100% sure but fairly positive that if you rescind Gordon's and Ryno's bird rights plus waive Douglas or Babbitt you're left with about $18-20m in cap space.

Shouldn't it be much more than that? If all cap holds are out and we waive Douglas and Babbitt, and Gee opts out, shouldn't we be somewhere in the neighborhood of 64mill in Salary? That would be closer to 30 million in room.

Where am I miscalculating? I'm using HoopsHype's salaries.

Good for us, sure

I think people think they are prepared for the contracts that they are gonna see, but they aren't. If Crabbe is gonna get 15, is happily give Dudley 12. Heck, if the money was equal I would prefer Dudley

Like I said I wasn't 100% sure because I can't remember all the figures. TBW has a solid breakdown on their website right now that details it.

Oh I have no doubt that figures will be crazy. Will I be surprised that Dudley got $10m/yr? No. But, I am just of the belief that'll be closer to $8-9.

I think I'm not factoring in Diallo and Hield, as well as Frazier and Ennis QOs. Could be the discrepancy.

And I would be absolutely shocked if it was under 10 unless he was taking a discount to go to a sure fire contender

I think younger guys will get over paid but vets will get the market avg. I think Dudley gets 8-10 while I wouldn't be surprised to see Crabbe getting 18 mil. People will be banking on the young guys more due to the cap increasing even more. I don't think vets will get over paid like people think.

Unless there are bad opinions of his back, Dudley is going to get $10-12M on 3 years. He hasnt really ever been paid big money and will have numerous suitors once the big ticket items are all gone and teams have cash to burn.

MMs dreams are dashed.

Also Saric will join the 6ers this year.

you want to keep a guy like Ajinca around rather than hope to replace him with a DLeaguer.

Well i did say "I" think Ajinca is a good player, but if they aren't going to play him, then let him go. Waste of $5M sitting on the bench and bringing next to nothing to the team.

My solution would be to play the man, and play him at the 4 with the backups, and give him a good bit of offensive opportunities, much like what you would do with a guard that comes off the bench merely to chuck up some shots quickly in the few minutes he plays.

Marc Berman of the NY Post reports that the Knicks have interest in Bazemore...also notes Bazemore will give time to them and the Pels but seems his choice would be to remain in Atlanta FWIW. It's on HoopsRumors.com

Yeah it is interesting that we're the only other team mentioned by the article. I guess that makes us his 2nd choice to Atlanta.

Bazemore is expected to seek more than double that — a pact starting at at least $16 million.

So now the question is will you give 16-18 to get Bazemore. If we both offer 15-16 he will choose Atlanta.

If I had to, I would definitely consider giving Bazemore 15-16.

18...man I don't know. I would probably pass on that. That's what? 19-20% of the cap? Seems pretty high for him.

His PER is 13. I mean look he's a good player and I would love to have him, but an undersized SF that is taking up 20% of your cap with a 13 PER in his best year. Eh.

How much cap space does Atlanta have? And do they have Bazemore's bird rights? They are also interested in Howard so I think all those factors come into play as well. I'm not saying he's coming here or anything but I don't think it's so cut-and-dry either.

I'm pretty sure they do not.

Bazemore on a two-year contract, they are in the same boat as they were last year with Millsap and Carroll — holding only his "Early Bird rights." That means Atlanta can only go over the salary cap to sign Bazemore if he agrees to a contract that starts at less than about $6 million.

They only have Baze's Early Bird Rights, which really doesn't help them too much I don't think.
