they also were kind of inaccurate with some things.

Like what? Who else have you been listening to?

I do think it would be hard to bring back Gordon/Anderson just from a fit/chemistry perspective. But I do like the idea of short, mega deals for them using Bird Rights if you are hell-bent on making the playoffs, in theory.

Felt like they don't understand what the Pels are trying to do and they should be building for 2020, which is what many Pels fans have been saying. Which makes sense why they are lower on Hield than 95% of Pels fans.

The big difference is Pels fans (like all fans) will always be more optimistic than the situation would indicate to outsiders. I'm certainly hoping they make all the right moves, have health, and surprise everyone this coming year.

He actually seems kind of on the conservative side.

Baze seems like the smart move if that holds true. Im not super high on him but as long as he doesnt regress, thats a net positive contract that can be moved when the time is right.

Parsons is high risk, Barnes may be even higher. And if both don't come in and stay healthy in Parson's case or take a big step in Barne's, they become anchoring contracts like Gordon and Asik. That will hold us back and keep us from making the leap.

I would be willing to go even higher for Batum but I think he stays in Charlotte.

Also had Biyombo at 10-12.

Shed Tyreke, let go of cap holds, Gee opts out...sign Baze, Biyombo and Dudley (or, say Hill). Bring back Frazier.

Boom.

Heres an idea I came across, it was mentioned for the Sixers but I could see the logic here:

Forget Barnes and go after Luol Deng. At first I was like Nah, then I though about it...

He will command less money and less years. Probably as few as 2 if you pay him enough. However he gives you everything Barnes does plus veteran leadership. Yet its a ridiculously moveable contract given its short term and the type of veteran borderline teams trade for all the time. So you aren't stuck if it doesnt work out.

Personally I'm intrigued.

I wouldn't be opposed to a 2 year deal for Deng. Anything longer F that.

That would be my cut off point. I would be willing to go pretty high on the per year amount to do it though.

Though there is the whole Ferry/Deng thing and the comment aside Ferry was kinda skeptical of his character. Buried within the whole "comment" was Ferry talking abut Deng being a player that would leak stuff to the media that would cause issues. Then again Iggy had that same reputation and matured out of it and from all accounts he was a great guy in Miami and they want him back but probably can't afford it.

He's way too low on a lot of his predictions in his article. I guess he thinks a ton of teams won't even reach the salary floor.

Luol Deng signing with a team Danny Ferry works for?

I'm gonna bet against that

I mean they did bury the hatchet but you are right, Deng is probably unrealistic but I do like the logic behind what that person said with a cheaper veteran that provides similar production vs a high risk, high cost player.

Someone posted this idea on PR. I'm paraphrasing, but would it be a smart move to trade Evans to the Nets for Jack? Jack is partially guaranteed for only $500k for the season. The Nets can absorb Evans into cap space. The Pels could then waive Jack for the current cost and possibly bring him back on a vet min deal if you need/want a vet third PG. Thoughts? Realistic?

If the Nets want Reke, they can have him. No need to add Jack to the mix. Everybody has cap room. We don't need to figure out player for player swaps. Yes, that would have been a smart trade to accomplish what we want in any other offseason. Not necessary in this one

It's not that I'm trying to figure out player-for-player swaps. I just know that the Nets don't have any assets to move to make a trade happen. My understanding is, correct me if I am wrong, that you can't trade away a player for nothing. Something has to move the other way whether it be a player or picks. The Nets really have neither other than Jack.

You just use a highly protected 2nd that never materializes.

Some of these number look a bit off, but if that's the case, then dump some salary if possible (Reke) and get Batum or Parsons, whichever one is cheaper, and go after another guy like Dudley as well.

If these numbers are somewhat accurate, then I would think we could get Crabbe at a decent salary, or at least make Portland have to pay him and force them to give up Harkless for less.

Don't want Courtney Lee. I like him, but that's why we drafted Buddy, and i'd rather him getting the minutes.

Correct. Tyreke for a fake 2nd rounder is the most likely trade if he is moved this summer IMO

Yeah just read something saying Portland will likely match anything, and you'll need to start at the $15-17M range to pry him away.
Oh well.

I find that a little ridiculous for a guy that hasn't really proven himself as a starter yet.
