Was not expecting to wake up to this.

Maybe we could have traded Jose for Doncic and 2nds.

If this isn’t investigated i dont know what to think about the NBA anymore. They were frustrated with Luka for conditioning, ok whatever, but to not shop him around to teams with much more ammo and just send him to the lakers for that return is crazy and clear collusion imo

That fat boy carried them to a championship game just 9 months ago. This whole thing is absurd.

The Mavericks were motivated to move Doncic because of his constant conditioning concerns, sources told MacMahon. There had been significant frustration within the organization about Doncic's lack of discipline regarding his diet and conditioning, which team sources considered a major factor in his injury issues.

Though Doncic was relatively svelte by his standards when he reported to camp, his weight ballooned to the high 260s early this season, sources said. He sat out five games in late November, when the Mavericks listed him with a sprained right wrist, an extended absence to allow Doncic to focus on his conditioning. He had a similar early-season layoff in the 2022-23 season.

Doncic has been limited to 22 games this season because of a variety of injuries. He has twice strained his left calf since reporting to Dallas before training camp in late September, although the Mavericks reported the fall injury only as a calf contusion, sources said.

So, we can safely assume that Dallas has zero interest in Big Hungry.

It is somewhat hilarious that AD is now stuck in Dallas without Luka. Ironically AD would be better off next to Trey/ Zion/ Herb. (After the fact) obviously he won a ring.

Griff would have gotten 3 firsts, 3 pick swaps and several role players for Luka in addition to a guy like AD

The NBA made Dallas approach LA.

But I’m happy Anthony Davis gets to rot with the Mavericks. And I don’t even like the Pelicans.

The funny thing is short term, it doesn't help the Lakers much. Luca and Lebron will be a shite show.

Longterm, the Lakers raped Dallas.

I know Pelinka was shitting himself to get this deal done asap the moment Dallas called to offer Doncic.

Yes, the Lakers are in rebuilding mode

They have the advantage, but many of the future scenarios (with hindsight bias to judge) don't agree with this.

Great trade for the Mavs. Mavs win the WCF with AD and KI. Luka is a great offensive player but the rest of his game is mediocre at best. Luka is too fat like Z and does not attempt to defend. Lopsided trade win for the Mavs.

If the belief is that the Lakers got the best player in the trade and Luka holds up over the next few years, they win the trade.

LA basically gave up an oft-injured second banana in AD and some relatively minor pieces to get two centers and a bona fide superstar.

FFS, having their next big superstar means that LeBron’s grip around the organization’s nuts loosens IMHO. LeBron may still have a no trade clause but having a guy who is an MVP level talent on the roster who isn’t a Klutch guy means that LeBron and Rich Paul’s influence declines a bit.
