I am an admitted casual fan of the Pelicans. Over the years I watched maybe 2 full games a year, despite watching the majority of NBA playoff games.

I just couldn't get behind how the team was being run, and for whatever reason, could never become a fan of AD. I just didn't like him. Thought he was soft and didn't elevate talent around him. It was also clear he wasn't interested in getting his friends to play here either.

Now, with Zion and the slew of new players, I am really excited to watch this team on the court. Might even look to attend a few games and really get behind this team.

Anyway, was seeing if other super casual fans of the Pellies had a fire lit under them recently.

You aren’t alone. Pelicans were near the bottom of attendance and viewership. Hard to get excited when you had an incompetent GM giving away our draft picks every year.

Yep.
I don’t have the time, patience, desire to spend one ounce of emotion or energy on a shitshow of an organization.

Since the change in management I’m now on board.

Looking forward to some other exciting moves this offseason.

This will be a fun team to watch and a top notch organization to become a fan of.

I’m a casual pels fan too and now I feel like it’s time to learn the rules of basketball... I’ve gone to games with friends when invited but I’ll be buying tickets to some games myself this year.

Wait for me!

Bandwagon fans are good for the organization.

The more people in the Blender the merrier.

Things seem to be looking up in the overall program but I am not sold on Alvin Gentry getting them very far into the play offs

Ditto. Have been to 3 games since theyve been here. Our leadership was so weak and deaperate.... Chouest WTF???? Then davis and gordon and paul....just a parade of malcontents.

Benson hadnt really gotten it running right for whatever the reason before he passed . Kinda Felt like they were bound to leave at any time

Davis, he irked me from day 1...think some of it was the very large and pronounced chia pet he was sporting from temple to temple.

I do think his tantrum is the reason will be viewed as when they woke and got shite going right.

Love Griffin thus far, feel like hes respected and thus we are viewed differently now in league circles. Getting players who will commit to being in the organization, greater Nola community, and play hard....love whhats happening.... they got me as a fan.

He knew he was nearing the end and wanted to win a title before he died. He owned the team and it was 100% his right to make that decision regardless of how we as fans felt about it.

Team was never a threat to leave once Mr. B changed the will and bequeathed the team to Gayle and not Rita.

Pumped about Zion and feel good about the rest of the draft class. I'm still concerned about Gentry's coaching, but like others have said the new core of players fits his coaching style better than previous rosters. I'm cautiously optimistic that the post-AD era will be better than the post-CP3 era, and I will definitely be buying a league pass subscription so that I can watch the pels in WV.

ETA: Not a bandwagon fan. It was just hard as heck to keep track of them while living abroad and while I was in medical school.

im in, boys. i usually pay pretty close attention except last season i just couldnt get into it. this will be a fun team if nothing else. now, if we could just tweak these uniforms a bit... i say go with the earned jerseys full-time if it is allowed.

The Pels rebuilt their roster in one draft. I think Pels will sign 2 FA players. I think they might be 5th seed this season. Bright future in Crescent City.

I still despise the NBA, but I will support my hometown team because I like sports and I like to see people happy.

I really want Gentry to succeed. Seems like a really good dude that everyone respects. Overall the organization does seem to be headed upward and Zion just gets me excited. This will be a very high energy team. Possibly the youngest in the league, too. Can’t wait to see what happens.

I never liked watching Davis and lost interest in the team since he was drafted. I was heavy into the nba in the late 80s and 90s but stopped watching seriously when Lebron came on the scene.

I’m back in now. Williamson seems like a kid I can pull for.

I don't have anything against AD. He busted his arse for this franchise for 6 1/2 years, and its not his fault the team was being ran by an incompetent front office. He's a grown man, and has earned the right to do what he wants. Have fun in LA AD being Lebum's errand boy, but we got Zion now. Quickest rebound from losing a star in professional sports history probably.
