Is PG a natural leader who can take this team to the next level?

I don't think that he is. He's overrated and full of himself. I'd take him, but I ain't giving up much beyond Bledsoe and Adams.

I do not want Paul George but also, New Orleans would never even have a chance of trading for a guy like Paul George lol
People seem to forget that if you are even remotely close to being a star in this league, you get to dictate where you wanna play. If we were to get a guy like PG or someone similar they would just refuse to play and demand their way out. It is the sad state of the NBA

Too much to give up for my liking.

If they throw in Kennard for a full rebuild I would be more willing to do this, even if it means Hart walking.

NAW
PG
Ingram
Zion
Adams

Kira
Kennard
Marshall
Johnson
Hayes

But I give this a 5% chance of happening

Lets compare their first 4 years in the NBA. I even put George’s 5 year cause he only played 6 games in year 4. Those who would want to trade BI (age 23) for PG13 (age 31) need to take a step back...

BRANDON INGRAM

PAUL GEORGE

I’d probably trade Zo, Bled, 1 first and 1 second for George. Assuming he stays healthy, we would make the playoffs fairly easily with George.

Zo, 3 firsts, a swap, 2 seconds is far too much though for a 31 year old that’s an oft injured playoff choker and absolute shitbag human.

The best part is thinking PG has earned any right to dictate where he can/can't go.

The missing part of your equation, is that Paul George was one of, if not the, best perimeter defenders in the NBA. If Ingram had George's level of defense, no one would think about trading him

ETA: I still don't want to trade for him, but your comparison is ignoring that factor.

Well Ingram is never going to be on the level PG was/is defensively, but you cant ignore the offensive numbers of BI which is where people first think about PG overall. Regardless, my point is to not give up on Ingram for a guy 8 years older.

I’m being honest here. I wouldn’t trade anything for Paul George. Maybe Eric Bledsoe. Maybe.

But only to see if I could move him elsewhere for value.

Lol I don't comment much on here, mostly read the comments, but as a former baller myself that played college ball I'd stop watching the Pels if they did that. George is garbage, he got Kawhi Leonard money and he's nowhere near the player Leonard is. I feel Leonard's frustration when I watch the Clippers sometimes always having to do most of the work, I don't know if he'll be back. But George wouldn't like it in NO anyways and would demand a trade right away if that happened. It won't, this is all just talk I know. Lol

I feel like so far we have botched the franchise rebrand.

Like the entire Hornets to Pelicans rebrand? Or switching over to the stupid #wontbowdown stuff for the past two years. Just seems an odd thing to think would keep a player from wanting to stay.

Understandable on his part. Went about it the best way anybody could and had nothing bad to say about the city/team. Wasn't a bad look at all.

Says who? Its going to come down to money. If he has a reasonable contract then im sure he'll be back. Even if we make the mistake of keeping Lonzo, we would still have money to pay him. Unless they think Naji brings as much to the table as Josh and does so at a cheaper price.

Im just being the optimist here.

No thanks. PG spent years trying to get to LA and his new extension is kind of scary.

Josh has made some comments that suggest he may not be back. Difficult to read between the lines as to whether the Pels are disinterested or him. However, we cannot afford to overpay role players. With Naji stepping up and Didi coming over, not sure we step up to the plate for Josh.

When I think about Paul George, I get angry that we were so close to being able to draft him originally. Instead we ended up with Cole Aldrich

Everyone overpays role players. Even the best teams in the league overpay their role players at some point.
