Since there is a strong possibility that Bender will be there at 6 now, and many see him as an elite Euro prospect, obviously there is a chance we take him.

Bender isn't close to a finished product at 18...but I'm struggling to "get" a starting 4/5 combo of Bender and AD. Both guys seem to have extremely similar games: stretch/scoring PFs that are very long and lanky, that are great in transition and pick n pop games. Bender isn't going to bang inside and isn't a big time rebounder.

Individually and in theory, both guys are ideal big men for the modern game.

Would you envision Bender off the bench for 2-3 years as his body develops, and then AD having a closer to the basket game as he gets bigger and more mature?

I think both are guys that can play 4/5 at their peaks. Both who will be able to switch out onto 3's for short bursts. Bender for example has been guarding 3's regularly for Maccabi.

Bender is a solid passer, tough, high IQ, good on the break, good athleticism for his size and has been developing a nice jumper.

I think Bender hitting even close to his ceiling would be a nightmare for teams.

if bender falls to us, it could be a prime trade out opportunity

If by some unexpected miracle we take him, I don't know that he will even be considered a 4/5 front court player. I've seen everything from Dirk to Durant as far as comps go. Sounds like he will fit in somewhere if that's the case

Yeah, I agree. If he falls to 6 and Murray/Dunn are gone, then trade him for the best offer you get.

Well it would be cool to get AD closer to the basket because Bender is a good passer. Uncle Al likes passing big men so we could kind of run a lot of our offense through Bender instead of AD.

If we are talking Bender as a possibility for us, what about Marquese Chriss if he is available?

I just think the promise of having 2 35%+ 3point shooters at the 4/5. One guy who is looking to be a great passer at his peak. Both can play up tempo/Gentry ball. Both that can switch onto 3 positions and be good defenders. That it is a really intriguing direction for a team built around a big man in a league that seems to be dominated by guards/forwards.

Chriss is a bit more raw, it seems. Both are young and years away from reaching their potential

Chriss could be another name that prompts a trade at 6, though

I was high on Chriss for a moment but I am off the bandwagon.

Especially for us and if we are trading out of the spot I can't imagine we would get much that I would want from a team looking to move up to grab a project like Chriss.

When it comes to Bender, I think of a Pau Gasol type. I think he'll definitely be starting when he gets stronger.

We saw with OKC that if you have 2 athletic bigs you can give small teams fits.

I can see Bender being more like Durant or Dirk with AD being a much better version of Serge.

Still the kid in only 18 and he might take a few years to figure out and adjust to the NBA

GSW have Curry and Clay and play outside in. We would be closer to Memphis playing inside out. But you'd have the option of creating a lot of space because you can move your inside away from the basket. Good ball rotation should lead to good shot selection. We'd still need a 3&D SF, but it would be a start to forming an identity.

IMHO

I want Bender. 18 year old that has a lot of room for improvement.

His passing reminds me a lot of Marc Gasol, who is fantastic. He looks really good making post entry passes (something we fricking sucked at this year). He also makes good skip passes out of post. Both of those could be a big plus playing next to AD.

He's also much better on D than you would expect from a guy his age. To be honest, he looks more like a SF than a C to me.

There is a big part of me that still hopes Dell shocks the world and takes Bender

I saw an interesting comp of Hedo but with defense. Imagine if he becomes that and AD becomes a new age Dwight. You add shooters around that and solid perimeter defenders and that is a contending team IMO

I think that's the start of a team that can compete in the new NBA without chasing trends, which never seems to pan out..

As the week has drug on I've become more and more comfortable if dragan is taken in some scenario at 6.

I wouldn't take him over dunn or buddy but I certainly could see reason in taking him over Murray(who I still like a good deal)

2 mobile athletic bigs with passing ability/outside shot/upside is very intriguing.

Take Bender, he'll be special. He'll take over after AD leaves us, Bender is one that could be a pelican lifer.
