Lower your expectations to be more realistic. That was a 2nd year player playing in his first NBA game in over a month against a fully healthy team that will likely represent the east in the NBA finals. He played 11 minutes, you can’t expect him to develop rhythm in that little of time. In those 11 minutes Dyson still had 3 offensive rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. And comparing him to Ben Simmons is actually criminal, Dyson will let it fly even if he’s a little hesitant. Simmons would shoot less 3’s than Zion before he developed a psychological back injury

I also have high hopes for Hawk but are y’all going to acknowledge he’s shooting 25% from 3 the past 2 months? Whether Dyson is hitting on offense or not, you know you’re getting an elite lockdown defender. If Hawk isn’t hitting, he’s a liability. They are young players, they have a lot to work on. No reason to be worrying about this at this stage of the season

It should be realistic to expect an NBA player that is 6'6 to not be afraid of dunking at the rim.

Yeah I agree. We’re not asking a lot offensively of Dyson. Try to make wide open shots and layups. We’re not even asking him to average double digit in points. Its like can you hit the open 3 and be aggressive to the rim. Thats it.

It’s a pretty similar situation. I think Hawk + Trey is what lets you walk away from CJ when the money gets too tight.

Hawkins and trey are kinda similar. They will need to replace cj with something similar play wise.

Dyson has a ton of offensive skill and will be fine shot wise. It’s all a confidence thing for him, he just needs time on task. Not slightly worried about him

I do think much of it is lack of confidence.

I didn’t watch the Suns game at all but pretty interesting Dyson had a +10 +/- and no one else on the team had a positive +/-

Dyson played VERY well...on both ends of the court. Was much more aggressive on offense than he has been. Be interesting to see how he finishes out the regular season...and how much "run" he gets during the playoffs...assuming he continues the overall solid play he had today.

It’s the same people that always wanted to see Kira Lewis just get a chance.

Some just can’t accept that we whiff on draft pics from time to time and it’s ok to move on frok players that aren’t what we thought

Dyson is 21, hasn't finished 2 seasons and is a legit elite defensive player.

The idea of cutting bait or moving on from him right now is pretty silly.

I agree with Shel.

Shut the frick up about Dyson, an elite defender at 21. Herb is 25.

Comparing Kira and Dyson tells me you know nothing about ball. Kira was never good at a single thing in the NBA. Dyson is an elite defender, huge, great rebounder for his size, and a really good passer.

I absolutely loved Dyson in that draft and I was ecstatic that we drafted him. Yes, his offense is extremely disappointing and if he doesnt figure it out his ceiling is a regular season defensive specialist.

However, he has things you just can't teach and so im willing to be patient. Kira never gave any reason to be patient with him. If Dyson just becomes average on offense he will be an elite role player because he's so damn good at the other thing

Kira and Dyson are nothign alike.
Kira won't be in the league next year. I pointed out many times in the first year signs that he might be a bust, and was alone in that viewpoint for a while. And i'm not tooting my horn, nor was i hoping for Kira to fail, i simply didn't see a high chance of him developing into a veteran nba player with the game he was showing us, or the confidence the coaches had in him. He was an undersized PG that wasn't allowed to play PG, by 2 different coaches. That's pretty telling.
No offense to the kid, but it was a stupid pick that had a very low ceiling, which is not the typical expectation when you select the youngest player in the draft (who also already had 2 years of college under his belt and was still the youngest guy in the draft). His cieling was Darren Collison, and that was going to be difficult to achieve. Almost everyone drafted after him, 17 guys, have been decent nba players at worst, outside of Poku/RJ Hampton/Bolmaro/Azubuke. Many of us had other players we wanted with that pick that night.
That was an extremely deep draft full of rotation players and better. Really sucks we went with one of the 6 guys in the first round that didn't do much of anything.

Dyson will be in the league for 10+ years, and that is very clear to see by anyone with a brain.

How wrong do you have to be to get me, Shel, Teddy, and Duck on the same page. What a terrible take

Dyson is a lot stronger than he appears. He arguably is Pels best post-defender. Not a big small-ball fan, but here .... we .... go.

Dyson is fricking huge. He's listed at 6'8 200 lbs but looks a lot closer to 210. Once he matures he'll probably hover around 220-230. With how well he rebounds, i wouldnt be surprised if he played some small ball 5 when he fills out.

Dyson might be Pels best option as small-ball 5 right now. The thing I like about him is that he's not afraid of smoke in the paint.

Dyson is famously a hard worker, though. He isn't Jaxson Hayes, where it was obvious after two years that he'd never achieve his potential, because he didn't want it enough.

This is one of the reasons I am confident he can become the player we want. I like the kids demeanor and am still very high on him. I’m usually right about these things so we will see.
