Does anyone here have ANY hope? Normally this board is buzzing for months about the lottery, but here we are 24 hours out and not a single thread on it.

C'mon SONS, let's wish that top 3 pick into existence!

The chances of moving to the top 3 from where they are is so small its not worth getting excited about unless it actually happens.

Setting expectations low so I’m not disappointed

Normally I would think it was a zero % chance kind of thing because the odds are so low. But Griff is a lucky son of a bitch, so while I'm not expecting to move up, I would not be shocked and start trying to figure out what conspiracy was at play if it did happen.

Has any team slotted at 14 ever moved up?

I don’t think the best team in the lottery has ever won anything, don’t expect that to change this year.

Am I being a pussy if I don’t want Brandon Miller on this team?

Since it went to 14 teams? No, I don’t believe so.

Last place has gotten the lottery win before (Magic in 1993) and the rest of the league was so pissed they severely reduced lottery odds for the back end of the lottery.

That Magic team had just drafted Shaq the previous year and narrowly missed on the playoffs, then got the 1st overall pick when Chris Webber was the top prospect.

Is Miller or or less of an idiot than Ja?

At this very moment, it would be tough to argue that any currently athlete is more of an idiot than Ja

I think they moved to weighted lottery odds the year after a team jumped up from 14. Since then no, but here is an article from last year detailing all of the big jumps and it's more than you would think jumping from way back.

quote:

Since the weighted lottery system debuted in 1990, no team with less than 1.5% odds has ever won the No. 1 pick. The Cavs and Charlotte Hornets (1%) both have lower than 1.5% odds this year.

The biggest lottery miracle came back in 1993. After winning the Shaquille O'Neal sweepstakes with the second-best odds in the 1992 lottery, the Orlando Magic came into the 1993 event with the worst odds at 1.52%. But Orlando stunningly jumped from No. 11 to No. 1, becoming the first franchise to win consecutive lotteries. The Magic selected Chris Webber first overall in 1993 and then promptly traded him to the Golden State Warriors on for No. 3 pick Penny Hardaway and several future first-rounders.

Only two other teams with less than 2% odds have ever won the top pick. With 1.7% odds in the 2008 lottery, the Chicago Bulls went from ninth to first. The Bulls didn’t let their good fortune go to waste either, selecting hometown prospect and 2010-11 MVP Derrick Rose.

I just watched the Shaq documentary and his speaking about that draft was pretty interesting.

Said he told the management he wanted Penny and when they drafted Webber be picked up the phone and called the HC or GM and said if you don't get Penny on this team he's not re-signing with them.

3 picks later Golden State picked Hardaway and the Magic immediately trade Webber to them for Hardaway.

To answer your question...think of it this way. Miller (and all his current baggage) is about to be drafted #2 or #3...now, IF somehow...Ja (and all his current baggage) could somehow be available for the NBA draft this year...where would Ja be drafted? Answer that question, and you have the answer to your opening question.

Put him in this draft & you know about his baggage?

No higher than 4.

You'd gamble on Miller & Henderson over him

We're better off. Victor is 7'5'' and his body will fall apart like all the other 7'5'' and up freaks that've ever been lucky enough to not have their body completely fail before the draft.

I just saw a video about Wembenyama. I do not want. Holmgren was bodying up that guy. Plus there are major concerns about his feet. He elected to play on a lesser level this past season. Just too many warning signs.

I'm not really big on anyone this draft. Seems like a weak crop. Tons of wings, which we don't need. I'd be interested in trading our pick..
