re: Christian Clark Quasi Hit Piece on BI

Based on past performance, Clark's reporting IMO is so unreliable that trying to speculate what we can take from it and what we cant is a futile exercise.
Plus 90% of that article is editorializing, placing his injuries on BI as if he controls that, and one small snippet is "sourced" which is an assertion that "some" in the organization and players are frustrated. Which is damn vague and can swing in so many different directions from almost meaningless we really wish he was healthy cause we care about winning, to, he's actively refusing to come back.
Right now, last major update was BI was not 100%. Recovery ebbed and flowed from good and bad days, along with the mental side. But he wants to come back and is working toward that. For me, unless Woj, Lopez, Lowe, or some other well-connected and credible source starts reporting trouble in the Smoothie King, I'm not losing sleep that BI is suddenly no longer the grinder, leader, and competitor we have known for the entirety of his time here.

I’m not making the comparison as in he’s just happy to collect a check and not play, the comparison is with the medical staff clearing him and then he’s saying he doesn’t have confidence and doesn’t feel he’s ready. Pretty much same thing Kawhi did in SA and Ben did in Philly.

You cherry picked one quote. Read the rest of the article.
Why don't you simply post the relevant info?
quote:
"Confidence in pushing off," Ingram said. "Confidence in being back to who I want to be. Trying to be explosive, trying to just be myself. That's the biggest thing. If I don't feel like myself, then I know it's not time to be on the floor."
He is unsure of exactly when he'll come back. The "trickiest thing," he said, is when he is "feeling like I'm ready, but I'm not quite ready." Pelicans coach Willie Green told reporters that it has been "a slow process" for Ingram, and that "it's been tough on him."
"Some days I feel really really good, and recovery is bad," Ingram said. "Some days, recovery is good. So whenever I feel 100 percent, I'll give it a go. But it's hard to say right now."
Green said that the team is "hopeful to get him back sometime soon," but the main priority is "to get him back healthy" and avoid setbacks, as the big-picture goal is to build toward being as competitive as possible in the playoffs.
"It's pretty tough because I want to be on the court," Ingram said. "Especially with our team success that we've been having lately, I want to be a part of it."

It's "Zion Hates New Orleans, is faking his recovery, and his family will force a trade to New York by Summer" bull shite all over again
Excellent point.

He's saying both.
He has good days recovering and bad, and the ultimate barometer will be when he feels confident being back to who he wants to be. Being explosive, feeling like himself on the court. Goes on to say about his recovery process "whenever I feel like 100 percent" implying that physically that has not happened yet.
Again, this feels like deja vu when many on this board were taking every piece of Zion news and filtering it with negative interpretations and then stacking them up to paint a really distorted picture of Zion and the situation.

The difference is Zion was never cleared to practice or anything, those tales were simply fans being frustrated by the lack of news about the recovery process.

Great, now it's on the radio.

Sure, obviously details are different, but some people are doing the same overarching thing IMO: taking every piece of info, and any gaps in info, and making negative, almost resentful/spiteful interpretations.
When there exists a large range of explanations, most of which are completely benign.

I ageee, that concussion was the most serious off of them all. Never saw a wrist glancing someones face cause so much damage. Dude was out longer than Tua who had to be carried off in a stretcher.

I, like most Pels fans, am frustrated with this medical team and the fact that BI still isn't playing.
I'm more frustrated at the team's inability to be truthful about any reporting on their injured players. They think if they minimize the injury publicly it will keep fans from freaking out. They did it with Zion all last year, they did it with BI this year. They consistently call things bruises and minor and then months later we learn the true injury. If the Pels came out when the BI toe thing happened and said it could be a 6-8 week injury fans would've been upset for three days and then we'd be giving BI the time he needs to get right. Instead we were told it was a bruise, signifying he'd be back in a game or two. That's on the team.
Does BI take a while to heal, yes. Is it mental at this point, probably. Could he, should he be playing right now, why are we pretending to know enough to answer that question?
One thing I'm never questioning is BI's desire to be here. Any talk of that needs to cease immediately.

Some of you all are overthinking this way too much. BI is a killer and wants success on the big stage in May/June. You all saw his work in the playoff-stretch, play-in, and play-offs. Guy could literally average 30 a game if regular season accolades meant a lot to him. He's not built that way. Damage in the play-off, when it counts, is what he's focused on.

We ain’t doing shite in the playoffs if we can’t built camaraderie.

Why “exactly” do you think he is not confident? I see this quote being repeated as if it’s some “Gotya” moment.
It’s a toe injury. I imagine he doesn’t feel he can push off on the toe. I imagine it’s sore sometimes after ramping up. I imagine after hurting it, his body has naturally tried to avoid pushing off of the injured toe and put more stresses on other things. All the very normal part of these sort of injuries.
Oh yeah, OR he’s a big ninny that just chooses to sit and watch games he could be playing in.
Do you realize how that opinion sounds when you say it out loud? I understand the aggravation. We all want BI to play…..and so does he. But for the love of Christ can me stop being so dramatic every time a player gets hurt. Half the board wanted to trade Zion, look at all the bumped threads. Don’t be that guy.

Pelicans have one of the best staffs in the NBA.
We have good trainers, but our team docs aren’t anywhere near the best and are probably bottom 5 just do to market size.

Whenever this gets brought up I think it should be pointed out that despite some major headline injuries to Zion, Pels are better than league average at fewest player games missed and when accounting for those players value contribution to the team.
Posted on 1/16/23 at 1:05 pm to Soggymoss
For all the games the fans see, there are numerous practices, film sessions, player development and coaching that occur that they don't see. There are two months and 40 games left in the season. Plenty of time to gel. The down side of the injuries really has only been an opportunity to evaluate the team at full strength before the trade deadline.

I’m a little dubious of this. We were fifth in the league in lost value due to injury a week ago. A ranking that has and is only getting worse with three starters in Zion, BI and Herb out.

TBC that was me referencing the cumulative of past seasons under Griff/Nelson got here.
This year is obviously pretty bad, but still incomplete.

Big part of BI's game is lift. Elevating over players to get his shot off. Toe is the driver for lift and also, once damaged, has a high re-occurrence of injury rate if not properly healed, similar to hamstrings.
I get it though, ... An Army without leaders is like a foot without a Big Toe
