here's a rather amazing list of individual player 3-pt%.

Nance 46.4...2.3 per 36 minutes
CJ 44.3...8.9
Jose 39.3...7.2
Trey 39.2...9.7
Hawk 39.2...9.2
HERB? 38.8...4.1
Naji 38.0...4.6
JV 37.8...2.4
BI 36.2...4.3
DD 28.1...3.6

FWIW: League average is 36.6%. Now...let's get that 3-pt attempt per game up from 31.5 to around 37 or so...and I'll take my chances

The Pels are around 34 attempts per game in January.

They have 15 made attempts per game in January which is 5th in the league.

He's a developing player. He needs to shoot it every chance he gets. Getting him reps is important for his long term development. Missing shots is okay. Not taking them when he gets an open look is not. If he starts to get scared of shooting, he'll be unplayable.

No, Dyson's shot selection is fine. He has to shoot wide-open 3s, unless it's early in the shot clock. He's usually looking for an open shooter, and his passing is excellent.

If you are shooting 28% half way through the season, you are not a 3 point shooter and should not be taking them. Let him develop a better shot in the offseason.

That's not how it works.

So you want him to not play?

If he is playing and open, you can't just not shoot a 3. That's not how it works.

You don't develop a skill by not incorporating it in games, whether it is working or not.

I want him to not shoot 3s. If Naji was shooting 28% from 3, no one would be asking him to continue to shoot. There are plenty other ways for him to contribute.

And we're telling you that's not how it works.

If you're on the court in that type of role, you need to shoot an open shot.

If you're arguing for the guy to not shoot the shot, then the guy should not be on the court.

THe point you're still missing is that you can't develop something without using it in actual, real games. You have to allow a player to go through the growing pains to see if he can come out on the other side as improved. You can't improve by not shooting.

I'll take my odds with him shooting open 3s.

Still a good shot. They hit and the gravity follows. It's not like the game plan is to get him the open shot, it just lands that way and 1 or 2 a game won't kill us. It can definitely help though.

That’s true but he still has to shoot a little bit for this team. He’s been 33% from 3 the last two months after an abysmal start to the year. His biggest improvement has been taking care of the ball and shot selection. With good shot selection and no turnovers, you can get away with a lower shooting %.

Here are is monthly splits:

That's such an antiquated thought process in today's NBA. Every single team would tell him to keep shooting wide open 3s

So we give up on our 20 yo prospect ever being a good shooter because he’s shooting 28% halfway through the season?

Thank god you’re not in charge

Also #3 in 3PT% is good BUT LETS TAKE MORE

I’m sure saints5021 thought Herb shouldn’t shoot 3s based on how his career started, now look at Herb. Players can develop.

He seems to do OK with corner 3s.

I feel like Nance has really been stroking the 3 ball nice. Hes hit some very clutch threes when left open.
