I'd contend that assets aren't the issue. All in, you could get an Allen, but you'd have to give up a couple of fan favorites with high-value picks. Softer marginal move ... maybe go after a Gafford keeping high-value picks and holding on (temporarily) to one of your fan favorites.

Absolutely agree. I think we always have enough assets to make the big moves but Griffin is very hesitant to do that. I feel like he needs to win every trade, hangs on to players too long and never presses to go all in. It’ll be really interesting to see what they do with JV. JV’s value is at an ultimate high and if you can upgrade you move him. Knowing Griff, he probably won’t do that. I mean this is the guy who couldn’t pull the trigger on the Lonzo trade and we lost him for nothing.

On pace for 40 3’s tonight. Getting out arse kicked b/c we are just jacking up 3s instead of going inside and getting them within our offense. AD has been preaching it the entire 1st half. Too many possessions where the ball never gets inside the 3 point line.

Succeeded in shooting 40 3s tonight. Sure worked really well for us.

Stats from last night

17 of the 42 threes last night were taken in the first 8 seconds of the shot clock.
We were 2-17, 12%
That’s called running down the court and jacking up 3s like an AAU team, hunting threes to get to 40.
Our average over the last 20 games is 5-11, good for 42%

When we ran the offense and took a shot with 15-7 seconds left on the shot clock, we were 7-19 for 36%.
Our average over the last 20 games is 9-21 good for 43%

We were 1-6 in the last 7 seconds, we average 2-6.

So we basically reached our 40 threes taken by taking 6 more threes within the first 8 seconds of the shot clock.

We only assisted on 80% of our made threes, down from our average of 90%. It was the 6th worst game of the season for assisted 3’s. We’ve lost 5 of 6 games when we have assists under 80%, that lone win against the Cavs with no Mitchell, no Garland, no Mobley.

And I saw several times where Zion had position down low with a guard on his back and we passed that up to brick a three.

It’s just one game, but it’s exactly what I said could happen when you stupidly try to reach a stupid goal of 40 threes.
We went away from what had made our offense so efficient last night.

I’m not arguing with you here on anything you said but I am curious to see how many of the threes they missed were considered wide open. From watching at home it seemed as though they missed a lot of wide open shots.

I will say in regards to taking shots early that been a part of Willie’s philosophy. I wouldn’t necessarily equate that to just jacking shots.

Only 2 were considered not open or wide open, so almost all were open shots.

No it isn’t. It was well over our average.
Those are rarely good shots except on fast breaks with someone like Trey, Hawk or CJ trailing and stepping into an open look.
No one else on the team should ever take a 3 that quick in the shot clock.

I mean if its an open shot and the right people are shooting it- I’m not sure if this makes me that upset. It seems like they just missed a ton open looks.

Willie has the .5 mentality- where within half a second of getting the ball the player is driving, passing or shooting it. So technically its what we do. Could they have passed to a better open shot later in the shot clock- sure. But you’re stating that most the shots were open anyways. We just missed shots. I get what you’re saying- they could have took better open shots, but seems like we just missed the shots. If you listen to Borrego at halftime- Jen asked him Pels missed a lot of 3s are you going to try to attack the paint more? His response was we have to keep shooting the three- thats who we are, we have to stay consistent. So whether you and I agree or not on this, it seems as though thats what the pels want to do.
