some rotation notes

Gentry made sure to keep ball and zions minutes together, even thru the 4th.
Jrue, hart and favors got the last quarter off.
Melli only came in twice but both times for long stretches, anchoring the 2’s and overlapping with the 1’s.
Redick got some run but was able to keep his minutes down.

All this without their best player

Melli seems to get most of his time at PF, but he's also getting some time at C. I'm not sure where he'll ultimately play more minutes.

This is how you become a team that casual fans follow and non Louisiana residents will follow.

Couldnt watch live, had to DVR and I'm about to finish up. Curious to how much melt was going on around here during the first half.

Come on NAW, I know you don't play much but this isn't how you get minutes

Frank has clearly passed him up. Baring injuries, we aren't going to see NAW get any significant minutes any time soon.

Seems like NAW could benefit from a stint in the G league.

likely so
that drive into traffic with his head down and the ball up looked way too Austin-Rivers-like for my liking.

not sure what’s going on with him but both he and Hayes need to be locked up in the practice facility during the break. I want to fair to both guys as they weren’t expected to play this year, but NAWs struggles just getting the ball in play are not expected

NAW isn't getting playing time now, and so he's pressing when he does get in. He had a stretch when he was playing well and was a regular part of the rotation, and the team is healthy now and we don't really need him to play, and now he's crap when he does get in.

Really don’t know why he wasn’t sent to the g league a month ago. He needs reps.

After starting the season 6-17 from FT line, Zion has shot damn near 73% from the FT line past 5 games with 48 attempts.

IF Zion is shooting 75%+ FTs his sophmore year in NBA averaging more than 30 mpg.... look the frick out. He'll average north of 26ppg.

Probably because his issues are on the mental side of things. G league probably won’t help him much in that regard. He needs as much time as possible this season observing guys like Holiday and Ball. His decision making is the biggest issue right now. It’s natural for a rookie playing in a system that allows this much freedom to struggle. Lonzo struggled with the decision making early on in this system as well.

I don't think that G-League would help NAW. NAW's biggest problem is that he takes unnecessary risks. He drives to the rim and tries the circus shot. He tries to thread the needle with crazy passes through traffic.

In the G-League, he'd get away with that stuff more often than not, just like he did in the summer league, because those players aren't talented enough to make him pay for those risks. And so he wouldn't learn to quit taking those unnecessary chances.

Shams: The NBA is testing Zion's shoes for vibranium per sources.
