Jackie McMullen, a friend of Bill, & Woj(whom Simmons fanboys over) are probably the best. Bill has plenty of sources in the NBA, including Justin Verrier, former Pelicans beat writer on staff , NOLA local Micah Peters on staff , among many many front office, coaches & players.

Gayle has finally come out and laid the smack down, which I 100% applaud her for, but stop with this Simmons is an idiot garbage.

I'm not as anti-Bill as some in this thread, and I'll still occasionally listen to his podcast.

That said it's hard not to realize if you followed Bill at all through the arc of his career that he's been on NBA auto-drive for most, if not all of The Ringer era.

His basketball IQ has slipped, his effort and interest seems to have waned, his homerism seems to have really gotten the best of him most days out of the week.

Her behavior didn't become overt until Gayle started getting serious with Tom, and a power struggle ensued.

Im not sure Gayle's goal was to become rightful heiress, but in the end that is what happened. I don't think Simmons is off base here. In fact I think you'd hear a lot of local media members saying the same thing if they knew they could go after Gayle without looking bad.

I am already seeing people on twitter saying what Simmons said is sexist. Well look, if you are playing that game, you also cannot give her sympathy just because she is a woman, and classy, and soft spoken. She should be accountable like any owner.

Bill, by his own admission, doesn’t write as much, dude is running The Ringer, his podcasts and his documentary projects going on. I’ll agree that he’s not doing all the heavy lifting.

The MisMatch is the best NBA pod on The Ringer. But Russilo and Bill are pretty good together.

This thread has been calling him clueless, that frankly is incorrect.

I agree with ya Thanos. I like the Simmons podcast as well as Russilo. And they are great together. I actually listened to the entire podcast before making a conclusion and it wasn’t that bad. Russilo was actually dead on and took up for the Pels (He also loves Baton Rouge and New Orleans). I think Simmons was misguided in what he read about the Benson saga because he read mainstream articles. We actually know more because we are from New Orleans and the Saints are like family so we know the family business. He also said that the Pels were unlucky with injuries and that the Saints/Pels training staff were horrible. Russilo was like it’s mostly ran like a football organization and they’re not used to getting bullied by a larger market. Also, that you have to wait and take the best offer.

That was wishful thinking on TB's part.

"He had hope for her" is probably a better way of saying it than to say that he thought enough of her.

I love how the fact that Brees, Payton, Loomis, and basically everyone who was significant to the organization said Rita was insane and they would all rather work for Gayle is conveniently left out.

There's some great frequent accounts there that show Rita was the gold-digger, hence being a wage bloat in literally getting the most simplest of tasks done. I get plausible deniability. But don't defend Rita for the sake of making yourself right, there's no back door in that assumption.

Being a billionaire is a relatively tough thing to be. In the United States there are six states that have no billionaires.

Gayle Benson is a bright, dedicated person...oh, and a billionaire (only one in Louisiana). She seems to bring intelligence, class and moxy to her position. However earned, she is a billionaire.

Billionaires are able to hire the best lawyers, CPAs, PhDs, carpenters, gardeners, executives. She will do a good job because she wants to and her station in life allows her to be able to.

It is hard for us non-billionaires to fathom what that would mean.

Gayle Benson will give no quarter.

And if I am wrong, then something else will happen. It will not happen because Simmons is a sensationalist, regardless of his "basketball knowledge."
