I have no problem with taking on a bad contract for late firsts if good trades for #4 don't materialize early in the first round. And it's not like Adams is useless. He's just way overpaid. But like I said before, the length of his contract lines up well with when we would actually want to do something with that cap space.

My problem is that Adams is pretty much a gigantic offensive liability, which means he is exactly what we don’t need at center.

I know it's been a while since we've had assets to be able to sort of play around with scenarios and stuff, but that doesn't mean we have to try to figure out a scenario for EVERYONE listed in either FA, or trade talk... for frick's sake...

He looks like someone I would trust to go out and break someone's leg *cough*Lebron*cough* in order to ensure we get better picks from a certain team

That made me laugh.

I think Adam's would be an all star if he didnt have to play by Westbrook. I like his game but to each their own.
Hard pass.

Took a while but I was eventually right

Kudos. You nailed it. I think he will be a great fit for this team.

Proves we overpaid if Thunder were trying to get rid of him 18 months ago

Got some people looking stupid in here lol

You're right they should of just accepted those 2nd round picks

No, it proves that a team is a lot more likely to overpay for one year than for two, especially if they can then extend him for two more years at a reasonable price.

Love this bump lol. At least given the hell I got for raising skepticism about many of the same things when the trade actually went down. Still don’t love it, still think it is the wrong direction. Moving positive long term assets and resigning a guy that has not been able to play meaningful minutes in his last two major playoff series because of getting exploited.
Lots of people that seemed to be echoing my concerns before Griffin signaled to them this is now a good thing.
He’ll be fine and this isn’t an Asik situation, but I think the long term reality of Adams is likely to be closer to this thread than the sunshine pumping from draft night

I know you're referring to something specific but I'm a little confused lol

If we had traded for Adams a season ago, we'd have had to overpay him for two years.
Trading for him now, though, means that we only have to overpay him for this upcoming season, and we were able to extend him for two years at a reasonable contract, which makes overpaying him for this season more palatable.

I meant we gave up too much get him, knowing they were fire saleing him for 18 months and no one else bit, not the monetary value of his contract

But they didn’t trade anyone then. They were obviously not just going to dump him or anyone else. The idea that you overpaid is silly because there were outlets that said we were interested last summer as well and ended up with Favors. That could pretty much say OKC wanted a haul then and may have loosened up a bit when they lost Gallo and Schroeder for nothing.

We were just bidding against ourselves. Just because OKC wanted a haul, doesn't mean that's the market rate or a little less is a good deal for us

What a great bump. Look at all the people who have praised the adams trade recently in here but in reality trashed it before it ever happened.
