I watched the entire game. It was wide open threes almost every time. WIDE OPEN in the corner, top of the key, everywhere. They seriously have no top outside shooters on the entire team. Nunn was pretty bad but lebron basically saved his energy for the fourth to rack up points lol. He and AD don’t have any hustle. It’s entertaining as an opposing fan. The melt is gonna be huge all year for their fans. Lebron is going to be extremely hated.

well LeBitch and the Bitch played played 35 minutes each last night, took 40 shots, and only shot 3 free throws.
Bitch mode engaged. They were scared of Jokic after he bulldozed AD for an And 1 early in the game.

all I want to know is how many times Toni dropped to the floor like he was shot

He did this without much contact a couple times. They even called a timeout for him. Then he stayed in
Jokic went at him really hard 2-3 times but not as much as I had wished. They definitely were sloppy and playing down to the clearly shitty lakers.

Do the Lakers have the ability to trade their 2023 1st rd pick that we have a swap option with?
Posted on 10/27/22 at 8:29 am to Chad504boy
No this season. Yes on draft night.
Posted on 10/27/22 at 8:30 am to Chad504boy
Don’t think so, they’re seriously fricked as any org I can remember for several years.
Posted on 10/27/22 at 8:30 am to Chad504boy
no because they owe us the 2024 pick.
they can trade our 2023 but only on draft night and not before (they have to make the pick)

They could acquire another pick then trade their own… except any pick they acquire is likely worth more than their own once the swap takes place.
Unless they are getting, say, a back end first that belonged to a team like the Warriors or Bucks, there aren’t a lot of picks that would be further back than the one they would have thanks to the swap.

The bottom line is this season, so far at least, everyone is holding out for the max payday of 2 unprotected picks. This may change closer to the deadline, someone always seems to break and helps these kind of teams out for an under market return. But for now at least the Lakers aren’t doing anything because the prices are absurd.

Let's just say the Lakers-Pacers do make the trade.
How much does it actually improve the Lakers?
I think it does but a lot?
Turner is just another fragile big. How many games will he actually play?
Hield is another personality that could be combustible.
Indiana absolutely sucks so it's not like Hield and Turner are helping that roster. I mean they don't have Lebron or Toni so it's not apples to apples but still.

so our swap rights is thus protected ...?

If their defense holds but their shooting improves, it would be a jump but not a huge one.
It probably takes them from worst team in the league to middling, provided the rest of the shooters improve once someone who can actually shoot is taking pressure off them.
And that assumes that people actually pressure them. It was mentioned upthread that teams were giving them open looks because they couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat.
In short, enough to make them middling and possibly get them to the play in or low level of the playoffs, but not to make them a strong team by any means.

Our swap rights are guaranteed.
If that pick were traded to any other team, it would still be subject to us flipping spots with where the Laker pick would be.
That’s part of what makes their ability to trade the 23 pick not a big deal… even if they could trade it, it looks to be a pick outside the lottery and possibly in the mid-high 20s.

I sort of asked it in another thread.
What if we had a three team trade with the Lakers and whoever else, and we agreed to waive the pick swap and the Lakers give us their pick outright in the trade, meaning we'd have their pick and ours, and then we trade our pick (or whichever pick is worst) to the third team.
Basically we'd be trading our 1st round pick which would be an expected pick in the 20's, for the Lakers.

but by that time we would have already done the swap right?
Posted on 10/27/22 at 8:57 am to TeddyPadillac
That's not legal. Us possibly owning their 2024 pick is what's keeping them from trading their 2023 pick because of the Stepian rule. The Stepian rule is the reason it's just a swap and not the Pels already owning the pick in the original trade.
