With no LeBron tonight (and maybe no Davis?), the Lakers will likely lose tonight to the Bucks. That will put them 2.5 games back of 10th place and a solid 2 games back of 12th place.
To make the play-in, they'd need to pass Utah, OKC, and Portland. I can easily see the Jazz trading away some key players by tomorrow and falling, but OKC and Portland are both very definitely NOT tanking. Everyone knows that Lillard wants to make the postseason and isn't going down without a fight, and OKC is a very young team that has improved as the season has progressed. OKC also has the 3rd-easiest remaining schedule by opponent record.
TLDR: It's going to be very hard for the Lakers to pass the Blazers and the Thunder.

They play the Bucks tomorrow

Thanks. I obviously looked at the schedule wrong. I guess that we can't mark it down yet as a loss, then.

I mean it still the bucks. Long as Giannis plays, it's probably a safe bet the Lakers will lose this one.

And I would still guess that LeBron wouldn't play tomorrow, but it is a TNT game, and LeBron usually tries to play in national TV games.

ESPN Sources: Lakers G Russell Westbrook and coach Darvin Ham had a brief, heated verbal exchange in the halftime locker room on Tuesday vs. OKC. Ham expressed frustration with how Westbrook lingered on the playing floor after getting subbed out of game late in second quarter.

What’s worse, someone pissed to be pulled or someone who refuses to get on the floor like a Julian Wright?
Westbrook’s game may have issues but you can’t deny he is a competitor.

The Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are in discussions on a three-team deal that would send D’Angelo Russell to the Lakers, Russell Westbrook and draft compensation such as a first-round pick to Utah and Mike Conley Jr. to Minnesota, sources tell me and @Tjonesonthenba.

Ongoing discussions have included Utah's Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt as part of the potential three-team deal to the Lakers, sources said. Sides are working through pick protections and additional draft compensation too, per sources.

Westbrook was their best player last night and only one who gave af to win. Someone mentioned his 6 TOs (8 assists), well Lebum had 4 TOs (3 assists). I’m ready to see if Westbrook was truly the problem

I think I said it already but every team other than the Pels should like this trade. Lakers give up 1 of their only 2 tradeable assets for 2 decent dudes but given their position/roster, this doesn't make them a contender. At best it makes them a guaranteed play in team. Meh
But for the Pels, it stinks because it will net them more regular season wins.
But they didn't have to give up much for a decent return, that's for sure.

It’s not about if he was the problem or not.
Russ is a great talent, he just didn’t fit the role he needed to play.
He will be bought out likely then maybe ends up in Miami? Happy for him.

Westbrook is a better slasher and defender than DLo, dude plays with more heart than anyone in the league despite his obvious skill limitations. When DLo is playing streaky and 1-6 from 3, I’ll be eager to see him impact the game like Westbrook could

Correct, the trade asset wasn’t such a big deal for them anytime past this week…
Where they will build/make a splash is this off season and not having Russ’ 47 mil taking up space… so as far as competing this year, it was the right move to move forward and make a push.
Nice fit/team now… it’s just all new pieces… so will be interesting to see how long it takes to find any type of “groove”.
West is wide open. I still like the warriors when it all comes to winning time, but the Mavs move, and now the lakers move..:makes the west intriguing for the next 2 months

Interesting that none of D'Lo, Vanderbilt, and Beasley have positive Total RAPTOR scores. D'Lo was positive last season, but not this one.
I'm not saying that these guys aren't upgrades -- they are. But they aren't big upgrades. They absolutely do not guarantee that LAL will make the play-in.

Why would Minny trade DLo for Conley? That doesn’t make sense to me considering what they gave up to get him to make Towns happy.

Times change.
I think nba fans forget it’s a business.
This isn’t 2k

Can we all just take a second to laugh at the Lakers for making a win now move that made them the toast of the town for about an afternoon before the Suns shite all over it with the Durant trade.
