fine... give us Toni back and we will give them the 2023 pick. Flip Toni for Durant. Profit.

In the grand scheme I think he has a point. Teams really shouldn't be able to trade half a team and 6 years worth of picks (when you factor in swaps) for a single guy. There should be some rails and roadblocks in place where teams don't mortgage their future for short term gains. Also it would stop these stars from gaming their way off teams after signing huge deals, since a team couldn't get overpaid to let them go. It needs to be looked at and there will probably be some tweaks coming..

There are rails. The Stepien Rule. The pick swaps are a fairly recent loophole to that rule. But technically the Lakers will have a pick in 2023, ours. So it’s not as bad as they’re making it out to be.

If Davis had been who he was expected to be, adding cheap depth with a pick in the 20s is exactly what the Lakers would have needed next season.

This.

If the Lakers had been properly managed, they would still be contending.

Blame can be spread around but they moved a number of pieces (Danny Green, KCP, Kuzma, etc) which were good supports for AD and LeBron to bring in Westbrook, Dennis Schroeder, etc, in addition to extending THT over Caruso.

If the Lakers had kept a properly constructed tram around LeBron and been willing to pay them, they wouldn’t be here. But LeBron thinks he is a fricking genius as GM (he isn’t) and Jeannie Buss thinks she can cheap out on the team and still win (she can’t).

Pelinka pulled the trigger on this shite show but the rest of the Laker brain trust was pushing all of it hard.

I’d think you were a troll but you are just hopelessly naive.

Making it impossible to trade such packages for a star doesn’t make it less likely they get traded, it means they don’t have consequences for them and their new team.

If changes like this went in and you could only get X number of picks, no swaps, no deferrals, etc, and they had to be top 5 protected, every stat would want out of a small market immediately because the costs of the trade in draft capital would be extremely low stakes.

Watching the Lakers, Clippers, and Nets burn over this, the second time in the Nets’ case, should be a cautionary tale to these teams looking to build a super team through trade. Instead, people are trying to save them from themselves.

Correcting their stupidity through rule changes is more dangerous than teams learning from experience or seeing cautionary tales.

Davis down. Not entirely sure what he injured but looked to be grabbing either his wrist or elbow.

Yeah I’m not sure what exactly happened but his reaction seems like he’s in a lot of pain.

That’s the wrist that caught on Booker. I don’t think he fell on that one.

Just looks weird.

We really shouldn’t be rejoicing a player getting injured.
