Graham has been, by far, our worst regular starter
Yet, he's a +19.1 on/off for the season, by far our best out of the team. Jonas is second at +13, so it shows we are a better team when Devonte is on the court.

I think that has more to do with roster construction. We have no other true ball handlers on the team

So, it has nothing to do with his skillset? He may not be a great defensive player, but he makes up for it with his offensive skills.
Will that translate to the playoffs? Remains to be seen

Apparently they have been searching for a mid-1st for weeks with very little in the way of takers.
So apparently the league doesn't value him too highly.
Posters are bashing are bashing Griff because of the pick value that was needed to acquire Reddish, but they are forgetting that Reddish is up for his pay day. And he probably isn't worth 15-20 million per season he will probably ask for and what the Knicks are probably comfortable with paying him. Knicks don't make this move if they aren't planning on offering him the rookie extension.

He’s an undersized wing that works hard on defense, but I wouldn’t categorize him as good defender
He has issues at the 3 but not at the 2.

I just don’t know where a Pels team with Norm Powell as an important piece is going?
What options do we have to get a better player? That list isn't long (if it's more than 0).

I didn’t say that. We have been clearly better when he’s on the court. But as far as his +/- being

Yes, that has to do with roster construction. Graham has been below league average in eFG% and TS% and has the lowest PER since his rookie year. He’s 5th on the team in WS and VORP behind all the other starters. Here’s who has replaced Graham at the 1 when he sits:
Kira Lewis
NAW
Sato
Temple
Alvarado
Jared Harper
So yes, I think his +/- is inflated because of the roster construction.

The tweeter throwing the 31-year old part in there to say it's a bad idea

At full strength you have 6 definite rotation players
You need 2-3 more, let's call it one big and 2 guards
??/Graham
Hart/??
Ingram/Herb
Zion/??
JV
I can't decide who starts between Hart and Herb, I don't see how someone like Powell helps much. Sure he helps, but he's a starter making starter money and I'm not sure if we have starter minutes for any guard that isn't a creator. Whoever you get that isn't a PG needs to come cheap enough that you can flip them later.

Ding, ding, ding!
It's because we actually have a talented starting lineup, and that still works with Graham on the court, so he has a strong +/-.
Because he plays PG, he hasn't had to play hundreds of minutes with the truly awful play of Kira and Sato this season. Those minutes have draged down the +/- of every other player on our team.

aren't you glad we gave up a 1st, almost, to sign him?
Oh, so we're going to the playoffs this season? Not the play-in, but the actual playoffs? You're even more optimistic than I am.
Cuz I may be optimistic in general, but I still think that we only gave up two 2nds for Graham.

Ohhh yeah..
This is from ScoopB, he's had alot of news on Pels lately it seems, he broke the Jose Covid news.

yeah now. Is that what the expectation was when the dumbass made the dumbass trade to sign a free agent? I'm pretty sure the dumbass expected to make the playoffs and give up that 1st in the process when that trade was made.
Don't excuse our idiot GM b/c we sucked this year. I'm pretty sure most people expected this healthy team to be .500 at worst, and vie for a playoff spot. There is nothing anyone can tell me to convince me it was a good idea to trade a lottery protected 1st to sign a fricking RFA that his original team had ZERO intention of matching offers for.

Dumping Sato for something relatively positive would be great.
It would likely include taking on long term salary they don't want with some small sweetener attached (a 2nd for a decent player with an ok long term contract, a protected first for a bad player with a bad long term contract).
I'm all for margin moves, moving guys like Sato, Didi, Naji, Temple for guys that could be upgrades but on longer deals, etc.
I'm really not in favor of moving better players right now though or attaching draft compensation.

Can we bring back Dealin Demps for this Sato trade ... he was a master of the margin trades.
I fear Griff will trade Sato and a future first for some 35 year old PG that is owned 200 million over the next 5 years.

I think we should keep Temple, but am all for moving Sato, Naji and Didi. Temple should be the respected elder that can play a few minutes here or there. With Zion being a mental midget, you need some long term vets around to tell him to man the frick up.

quote:That is about as obvious as they come. From the time he came to the team, the expectation was that his $10 million expiring would be used in a deal. My concern is that he has not even looked serviceable. So, we may be looking at a 2nd at best. Hoping he can be used as a salary match if needed for a quality player.

We're talking about the same guy here? The one who let Ryno, Kaman, and Gordon expire when they absolutely needed to be traded?

Yes, same guy. Demps was great at winning the trash for trash swaps.
Julian Wright for Belinelli
Darius Songaila and Craig Brackens for Jason Smith and Willie Green
Qpon for Greivis Vasquez
Russ Smith and Austin Rivers for Qpon 2.0
Pretty sure he had a few others but those are the first ones that come to mind.
